RENO, Nev. - For the third consecutive match the University of Nevada (6-7) women's tennis team dominated its opponent winning by a score of 7-0. The Wolf Pack's latest 7-0 victim was a blanking of Sonoma State (8-6) at Caughlin Club on Sunday. Winners of three in a row the Pack is 6-7 on the season while the Seawolves fell to 8-6.
Nevada won the #1 and #2 doubles matches to earn the team point. Sheila Morales and Blaga Delic got the day started by winning 6-2 over Leire Martinez and Jacquelyn Ward in #1 doubles. Juliette Legendre and Sheila Smiley kept it rolling with a 6-4 victory over Kaitlyn Haithcock and Jordyn Kearney in the #2 doubles match to secure the point. Hillary Fazekas and Karlee Budge won the only match of the day for the Seawolves taking #3 doubles 6-4 downing Elissa Pavelea and Beatriz Garcia.
Legendre started the singles matches winning the #2 matchup 6-1, 6-2 over Haithcock. Delic put the Pack up 3-0 with her 6-0, 6-1 victory over Kearney in #3 singles. Sara Korzeniecki clinched the victory with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at #5 singles to earn the fourth point the Pack needed for victory.
Morales won her #1 singles match 6-3, 6-3 over Martinez. Smiley won a first set tiebreaker 7-4 and cruised in the second set 6-1 to win #4 singles. Pavelea closed the match with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 victory in the #6 singles match.
