RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada (5-7) women's tennis team dominated Cal State Stanislaus 7-0 in its home opener at Caughlin Ranch on Friday. The Wolf Pack has won its last two matches by 7-0 scores and stands at 5-7 on the season while the Warriors fell to 2-5. Nevada hosts Sonoma State (7-5) on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at Caughlin Club located at 4100 Caughlin Parkway in Reno.
Nevada wasted little time sweeping the three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match. Sheila Morales and Blaga Delic won 6-1 over J'Ana Diamond and Jessica Laurie in #1 singles. Juliette Legendre and Sheila Smiley blanked Analyssa Tallas and Kaitlyn Ireland 6-0 in #2 singles. Beatriz Garcia and Elissa Pavelea dominated Jessica Stokes and Ebone Qualls 6-1.
Smiley started the singles action with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Stokes in #4 singles and Delic equaled that with her own 6-0, 6-0 victory over Tallas in #3 singles. Sara Korzeniecki produced Nevada's third 6-0, 6-0 victory of the day in #5 singles and the Pack led the match 4-0.
Pavelea downed Qualls 6-1, 6-1 in #6 singles and Legendre won 6-3, 6-0 over Laurie in the #2 singles match. Morales rallied in the second set to win #1 singles 6-2, 6-4 over Diamond to make the final score 7-0.
