PRC Results Get Acrobat Reader

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 14th ranked University of Nevada rifle team placed fifth at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships hosted by the Air Force Academy last weekend. The Wolf Pack also finished fifth last season at the championship.

Second ranked Alaska claimed the title with a score of 4680, followed by third ranked TCU (4665) and number nine Ohio State (4655). The host Air Force Falcons entered the championship ranked fifth nationally and finished fourth with a score of 4647. Nevada's 4596 earned them fifth and UTEP was sixth with a score of 4558.

Freshman Justin Nissen shot 571 in small bore to lead the Pack and finished 22nd in the event. Another freshman Sarah Jameson was 25th with a score of 568. Junior Greta Ochsner (564) and freshman Emily Capual (563) finished 29th and 30th respectively. The fourth freshman in the lineup Sara Tashima was 37th with a score of 551.

Capaul placed 13th in air rifle shooting a team best 585. Jameson was the second Nevada shooter in the top 20 finishing 18th with a score of 583. Nissen and Ochsner both shot 581 to earn spots 23 and 24 in the air rifle. Tashima's 576 was good for 33rd.

Nevada competes at the NCAA/NRA Qualifier on Feb. 21 at UTEP.
