RENO, Nev. - The 14th ranked University of Nevada rifle team defeated #19 UTEP 4597-4490 in the final match of the regular season on Saturday. The teams and individuals that will be selected for the NCAA Championship scheduled for March 13-14 in Fairbanks, Alaska should be announced on Friday.


Freshman Sarah Jameson posted the top score in smallbore shooting 578. Two more freshmen Justin Nissen and Emily Capaul shot 567 and 559 respectively. Junior Greta Ochsner shot 558 and freshman Sara Tashima 549. The Pack won the smallbore 2262-2182.


Capaul's score of 594 in air rifle is one of the top scores in the nation and could earn her a spot in the NCAA Championships. Jamison posted the third best score in the event with her 585. Ochsner and Tashima each shot 578 while Nissen scored a 576. Nevada outscored UTEP 2335-2308 in air rifle.
