RENO, Nev. - The 14th ranked University of Nevada rifle team concludes the regular season at the NCAA Qualifier at UTEP on Saturday. The Wolf Pack will compete against the Miners in hopes of obtaining a score that will earn them a spot in the NCAA Championship scheduled for March 13-14 in Fairbanks, Alaska.
"We are looking forward to our match with UTEP," head coach Fred Harvey said. "They are a great host and always present a challenge."
Nevada enters the weekend ranked 14th in the latest Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association poll while the Miners are 19th. Saturday is the fourth dual meeting with UTEP and the Pack won the first three competitions. Nevada also finished ahead of the Miners at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championship.
The 2014-15 squad has been led by primarily freshman this season with junior Greta Ochsner being lone the upperclassman. Freshmen Emily Capaul, Stephani Cooksey, Sarah Jameson and Justin Nissen along with Ochsner have comprised the Pack's lineup most of the season.
