RENO, Nev. - After qualifying for the U.S. Diving National Team with an eighth place finish on platform at the 2015 USA Diving Winter Nationals, senior Krysta Palmer has been named Mountain West Diver of the Week.

Palmer recently competed at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis in a field of the country's top divers and Olympic hopefuls. Out of 68 competitors, Palmer placed eighth on platform with a cumulative score of 887.35.

The Carson City native opened with a 277.65 to place eighth as the top 18 advanced to the next round. Palmer then scored a 278.35 in the semifinal round to sit in 10th place with a cumulative score of 556 as the top 12 advanced to the finals round. Palmer then earned a score of 331.35 to vault to eighth place with a cumulative score of 887.35 and qualify for the national team.

Palmer's finals round score of 331.35 was the second-best finals score in the field. The score also marks the top score in the Mountain West this season. Palmer now owns the top scores on the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform dives in the MW this season.

This marks Palmer's third weekly conference honor this season and the eighth of her career.

The Nevada swimming and diving team returns to action on Jan. 23 with a dual at San Jose State. In NCAA competition, Palmer has won all six diving events she has competed in this season.
