RENO, Nev. - Head coach Matt Meuchel and the Nevada softball program have announced the schedule for the upcoming 2016 season. The schedule features five opponents that finished 2015 ranked in the top-100 in the RPI rankings and six series at Hixson Park.

"This schedule puts us against great teams from some of the top conferences in the country," said Meuchel, who enters his eighth season with the program. "We like the way our conference schedule played out but our squad will definitely be tested. We're excited."

The Wolf Pack opens at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., where it will play five games including three teams from Power Five conferences in Wisconsin, Boston College and Indiana. The Hoosiers are led by head coach Michelle Gardner, who was the head coach at Nevada when the softball program was reinstated in 2003 until 2009.

After travelling to the Wilson/DeMarini classic the following week, the Pack will head to Santa Clara where it will take on UConn and Santa Clara twice each. Stops for tournaments at Sacramento State and UC Davis precede the first home games, a doubleheader against Sacramento State on March 16.

The final tournament of the season before the beginning of Mountain West play will be a homecoming for Meuchel as Nevada travels to Missoula, Mont. for the Grizz Classic from March 19-20.

The Pack opens with Boise State at Hixson Park before travelling to San Diego State, one of two MW teams to reach the NCAA Tournament last season. Nevada returns to Reno for its longest homestand of the season starting with New Mexico from April 1-3 and a non-conference clash against Niagara for a three-game set from April 8-9.

After travelling to intrastate rival UNLV, the Pack welcomes San Jose State for three games from April 22-24 before heading to Colorado State. Fresno State, who ranked No. 45 in the RPI last season, will come to town for the final homestand of 2016 from May 6-8.

Wolf Pack Softball full season tickets are just $45 for youth and $60 for adults and can be purchased by calling (775) 348-PACK or online at NevadaWolfPack.com.
