RENO, Nev. -
The Nevada women's cross country team finished up its regular season with a 6000 meter race in Sunnyvale, Calif. this morning in the Bronco Invitational.

The Wolf Pack only sent a few runners to the mid-October race as head coach Kirk Elias kept the rest in Reno to continue their month-long focused training for the Mountain West Cross Country Championships, which Nevada will host on Oct. 30 at Montreux Golf and Country Club.

Freshman Shannon Palladino led the team, coming in 86th in the 172-runner field with a time of 22:01, beating her previous best by 55 seconds. She also moved into a tie for the third-best freshman 6K in school history. Redshirt freshman Helen Mino-Faukner was the next Nevada runner across the finish line with a time of 22:24, a new personal best for her. The Pack placed 17th after fielding the younger team.

Nevada will be back in competition for its most important race of the season so far, the Mountain West Championships, on Oct. 30 in Reno. Nevada will only be able to field its top-nine runners for the 6K, and Elias says he will use this morning's race as an indicator to round out his selections.
