RENO, Nev. - A busy week with multiple competitions, including a showdown of Mountain West unbeatens, awaits the Nevada swimming and diving team. The Wolf Pack will compete in two dual meets while the divers will compete at the Hawai'i Diving Invitational.

First, head diving coach Jian Li You and two Wolf Pack divers will compete at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Center in Honolulu on Thursday and Friday. Meanwhile, the Pack swimmers will take on Rice (3-3) and San Diego State (14-0) at 10 a.m. (PT) from the Aztecs Aquaplex in San Diego on Friday.

"These are the two fastest teams we've faced yet this year," said head coach Abby Steketee. "Having a challenging meet like this is an important part of our training trip as we look to really push ourselves physically and mentally."

The Hawai'i Divining Invitational will get underway tomorrow at noon (PT) with 1-meter competition. The 3-meter dive will follow at 4 p.m. Action will conclude from the Aloha State at 1 p.m. with the platform event.

Junior Krysta Palmer and freshman Wendy Espina-Esquivel will compete for the Wolf Pack. Palmer, a native of Carson City, Nev., will be making her second appearance of the season after earning MW Diver of the Week honors after winning two events against Fresno State with career-high scores. Espina-Esquivel will be making her Nevada debut after joining the program over winter break. Espina-Esquivel is a freshman hailing from Santiago, Chile.

The undefeated Wolf Pack swimmers will also compete on Friday, taking on the Owls and Aztecs at 10 a.m. in San Diego. The meet will be judged as two separate duals. Rice (3-3) is coming off a dual victory over Missouri State and a first place finish at the UIW Holiday Invitational. Meanwhile, the Aztecs are an undefeated 12-0.

Nevada defeated Cal State East Bay, 128-74, last Saturday in their first competition in nearly two months. The Wolf Pack opened the season with a quad-meet victory and two dual wins. With just over a month remaining until the Mountain West Championships (Feb. 18-21), Nevada has now entered its peak intensity training.

Following this week's action, the Wolf Pack will return to the pool for its home finale and senior day on Saturday, Jan. 24, hosting San Jose State. Action will begin at 11 a.m. (PT) from Lombardi Pool.
