BERKELEY, Calif. -- The University of Nevada women's tennis team made a big impression on Sunday to close out the Cal-Nike Invitational.
The Pack picked up two doubles victories in quarterfinal and semifinal play on the final day in Berkeley. Head coach Guillaume Tonelli saw today as a learning experience and a great start to a new season.

In the ITA gold doubles quarterfinal, doubles duo Blaga Delic and Sheila Morales defeated San Jose State's Julianna Bacelar and Malin Cubucku advancing them to semifinal play. Unfortunately in the semifinals against BYU's Nicolette Tran and Savannah Ware, Delic and Morales were defeated, by a score of 6-1; 6-4.

Nevada's senior pair Juliette Legendre and Sheila Smiley defeated Cal's Lyann Hoang and Stephanie Lin in the ITA gold doubles consolation quarterfinals keeping them at a stand still next to Cal Poly's Emily Gibbens and Sayaka Tsugai as semifinalists.
In the ITA white doubles round 16 Nevada's Clarisse Treand and Monika Magusiak were overcome by Cal Poly's Molly Reed and Zoe Oedekerk, by a score of 8-2 dropping them to the consolation bracket. In the consolation quarterfinal UC Davis' Jesse Lee and Samantha Martino defeated Elissa Pavalea and Sara Korzeniecki, by a score of 6-2; 6-2. In the semifinal match of the consolation bracket, Clarisse Treand and Monika Magusiak received redemption as they defeated UC Davis' Freddie Sleiffer and Kamila Kecki, by a score of 7-6(3);1-6;1-0(0).

The Pack showed up to the Cal-Nike Invitational ready to play and represented their hard work and dedication. They will be in action next at the Regional Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico from Oct. 15 through Oct. 19.
