RENO, Nev. -- The University of Nevada women's tennis team was nearly perfect as it snapped a four-match losing streak, beating Seattle on Friday by a score of 6-1.

The Wolf Pack (6-5) snapped its four-match skid with the win over the Redhawks, who now sit at 3-12. Nevada almost went through the day unblemished, as it swept the doubles matches (3-for-3) and dominated the singles play (5-for-6). Head coach Guillaume Tonelli hopes the team can continue the success the rest of the weekend.

"It felt nice to get the win in front of our home crowd on our home courts," he said. "The girls came out with a lot of passion today and took care of business. We will approach tomorrow the same way."

The Wolf Pack started doubles play with a victory from the duo of Juliette Legendre and Sheila Smiley, as they knocked off Gabriella Weissman and Sarah Lucas, 8-3. Michelle Okhremchuk and Sheila Morales Hidalgo rolled over Kelli Woodman and Barbara Anne Carey on court No. 1 by a score of 8-1 to clinch the doubles point. Caroline Konigsfeldt and Beatriz Garcia Planas completed the doubles sweep by defeating Kristen James and Samantha Garrard, 8-5.

Seattle got a point with the Nevada injury withdraw to knot the score at 1-1, but that would be all for the Redhawks. Morales Hidalgo then disposed of Anna Lambert, 6-1, 6-0 to put Nevada back ahead, 2-1. Okhremchuk continued the Nevada momentum by ousting Woodman on the first court, 7-5, 6-0. The match clinching point came from Smiley, as she dropped Carey in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Konigsfeldt increased Nevada's lead to 4-1 after she was victorious against Weissman, 6-1, 7-5. Monika Magusiak wrapped up the day by stopping Lucas on court No. 5 by a score of 6-4, 6-2.

Okhremchuk's singles win today gives her 81 in her career at Nevada, keeping her in second place. However, she is only two shy of leader Tracy King (83), and has the possibility to tie the record on Sunday against Montana.

The Wolf Pack will be in action again this weekend on Saturday when it faces off against UMBC at 1 pm on the courts of Caughlin Athletic Club.
