RENO, Nev. - Junior Krysta Palmer has been named Mountain West Diver of the Week, the conference office announce today. Palmer won both diving events Saturday against Fresno State in her season debut to earn the first conference weekly award of her career.
The Carson City, Nev., native tallied career-high scores in the 1 and 3-meter dives. Palmer won the 1-meter springboard by over 82 points with a score of 320.40. She also won the 3-meter springboard by over 73 points with a score of 322.50. Both of her scores are NCAA-qualifying marks, while her 1-meter dive currently ranks first in the Mountain West and her 3-meter dive ranks second.
Pamer's contributions in diving helped the Wolf Pack notch a 172-152 victory against the Bulldogs and improve to 4-0 on the season. Nevada is off to its best start since the 2011-12 season.
Palmer made her debut with Nevada as a sophomore last season, being named to the MW All-Conference Team. Palmer placed in all three dives at the conference championships before qualifying to the NCAA Zone E Diving Regional.
The Wolf Pack continue the 2014-15 season on Saturday, Nov. 8, at UC Davis. Action will get underway at noon (PT) from the Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif.
