Oct. 22, 2014 In preparation for the upcoming women's basketball season, the University of Nevada media services department will be putting out a daily `Meet the Pack' web segment, featuring all members of the Wolf Pack women's basketball team. Our third installment this week is senior Aja Johnson, who grew up in Oakland, Calif. Last season, Johnson set a new career-high in single-game rebounds by pulling in 11 twice, and tied her career-high in points with 13 against Utah State.
What is your favorite basketball memory?
High School: My favorite basketball memory in high school was beating my high school's arch rival Head-Royce in the conference tournament.
College: Beating Oregon at home on a last second buzzer beater.
If you weren't playing basketball, what sport would you play?
Soccer
Where did you grow up? And what is the best thing about your hometown?
I grew up in Oakland, Calif. The best part about my hometown is being around a small town atmosphere that is near larger and unique cities like San Francisco.
Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?
The only pregame ritual that I have is listening to my basketball playlist before every game.
What do you do when you're not playing basketball?
When I'm not playing basketball I like to spend time with my family, read and watch American Dad and Family Guy.
Who is your favorite NBA/WNBA player?
Serge Ibaka and Candice Dupree
What is your favorite part about the game?
My favorite part of basketball is the team comradery that comes along with playing a team sport.
What do you like most about Nevada?
The team, the school and the community
What is the most interesting thing that you want Wolf Pack fans to know about you?
I spent 30 days in Death Valley and it was one of the best experiences of my life. At times I wish I could go back so I can enjoy the solitude and beauty of being in nature without cell phones, iPads, etc.
