Oct. 16, 2014 RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada rifle team is currently tied for 14th in the latest Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association poll and will host #5 Air Force on Saturday starting with the smallbore at 9 a.m. The meeting is a Patriot Rifle Conference match.
"We look forward to the challenge of shooting with one of the top 5 teams in the country," head coach Fred Harvey said.
The smallbore range is located in the parking lot on the north side of Nevada's baseball field, Peccole Park. Air rifle will follow at the Pack rifle range located on the second floor in the Nevada Genomics Center at 910 Valley Road.
Air Force is currently 1-0 after opening the season with a 4667-4648 home victory over #7 Nebraska. The Wolf Pack is 3-2 on the season. Last week the Pack split four PRC matches, defeating then #20 UTEP twice and falling to #10 Ohio State twice.
Junior Greta Ochsner has posted the team's top score in smallbore of 576 and twice shot the Pack's top aggregate of 1159. Ochsner's 584 in air rifle ranks third on the team.
Freshman Sarah Jameson's 588 in air rifle last weekend is the top score for a Nevada shooter this season. Another freshman Stephani Cooksey shot 587 last weekend in smallbore. Jameson posted and 1155 and Justin Nissen a 1154 last Sunday which are the second and third best aggregate scores for the Pack this season.
