Reno, Nev. - The Nevada swimming and diving team hosts the annual Silver & Blue Intrasquad this Saturday at the Lombardi Pool, beginning at 9:30 a.m. (PT). The meet is free and open to the public.

Third-year head coach Abby Steketee and the Wolf Pack are coming off a highly successful 2014 season, tallying the program's best-ever finish at the Mountain West Championships. Nevada will use this intrasquad to prepare for the 2015 season, which begins on Oct. 24 with a quad-meet in Stockton, Calif.

"The intrasquad meet is very important for the development of our team," said Steketee. "It introduces our freshman to the format of collegiate competitions and challenges our seniors to practice leadership skills they'll need for future meets. The meet will help us identify specific areas to improve while also being a fun way to build team spirit."

The Silver & Blue teams will be divided evenly, while seniors will serve as their respective team's captains. Following the intrasquad, the pool will be open for a mini-meet and social for Wolf Pack swimming and diving alumni.

The Pack returns 11 letterwinners from last year's team that placed third at the MW Championships, including six all-conference honorees; sophomore Teresa Baerens, senior Michelle Forman, sophomore Sita Kusserow, junior Yawen Li, sophomore Arantxa Medina-Alegria and junior Krysta Palmer.

Nevada also welcomes a very talented freshmen class into the fray, featuring Emily Bashforth (Jersey, Channel Islands), Josefin Eriksen (Sundyberg, Sweden), Katie Hofmeyer (Adelaide, Australia), Briana Peterson (Orange, Calif.), Delaney Quattlebaum (Richmond, Texas), Mary Smithen (Gardnerville, Nev.) and Jaeger Turner (Bolton, England).

Nevada opens the season with a quad-meet on Oct. 25 between Pacific, Simon Fraser and Fresno Pacific. The Wolf Pack hosts three competitions at the Lombardi Pool this season. The Pack will compete on back-to-back days against Cal State East Bay on Jan. 2-3, with the first day serving as a relay meet. Nevada's final home meet will be against San José State on Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. (PT).
