Final Stats
FRESNO, Calif. - Despite three singles wins against UC Santa Barbara, the University of Nevada women's tennis team fell 4-3 to the Gauchos Saturday at the Wathen Tennis Center.
The loss dropped Nevada to 3-7, while UCSB improved to 8-11 (3-1 Big West).
Nevada's wins came at the first three singles positions. Michelle Okhremchuk blitzed Sofia Novak in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1. Emma Verbernealso won in convincing fashion, beating Natalia Lozano 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2.
Sophie Stevensearned her fourth win of the dual season in the third spot, winning 7-5, 6-3 over April Scatliffe.
The remaining singles matches went UCSB's way, giving the Gauchos the one-point win.
Nevada will remain in Fresno to take on No. 57 Fresno State Sunday at 11 a.m. The match will be Nevada's first Western Athletic Conference test of the season.
