RENO, Nev. - University of Nevada sophomore point guard Deonte Burton and junior shooting guard Malik Story have been honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches by being named to the District 6 first and second teams respectively. The backcourt duo combined to average 29.1 points per game for the 26-6 Wolf Pack who won the Western Athletic Conference regular-season title with a 13-1 conference record.
A native of Los Angeles, Burton was named the 2012 Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year after helping the Wolf Pack to a 13-1 conference mark and the regular-season championship. Burton averages 14.9 points and 4.3 assists to lead the team in both categories.
Story was second on the team averaging 14.2 points per game and shot 42.1 percent from behind the 3-point arc for the WAC regular-season champions. The 6-5, Pasadena, Calif. product was named to the WAC Honorable Mention team.
Both players are eligible for the NABC Coaches' Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Tuesday, March 20.
