PALO ALTO, Calif. - The Nevada softball team dropped a pair of tough games at the Stanford Nike Invitational on Friday.

Nevada played well defensively in the opener against Pacific but fell 4-1 to Pacific. Then, Nevada twice lost leads in a 12-7 loss to Bradley.

With the losses, Nevada fell to 1-6 on the year. The Wolf Pack will complete round-robin play at the tournament on Saturday at 12:15 against the host team, Stanford. From there, the teams will be seeded for bracket play at Nevada will play at either 2:30 p.m. or 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Against Pacific, the Tigers scored twice in the first off of Mallary Darby and that proved to be enough as the Nevada offense struggled to get going. Nevada scored its lone run in the fifth inning when Karley Hopkins singled, stole second and later scored on a single by Caylin Campbell.

Nevada had just four hits in the game and left eight runners on base. Darby took the loss after giving up eight hits and four runs in six innings.

The Pack jumped out against Bradley as Sam Puzey blasted a two-run home run in the first inning. It was Puzey's first career homer. Puzey then had an RBI groundout in the third to make it 3-0.

But Bradley scored once in the fourth and three times in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead.

Nevada answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Campbell singled, Lauren Lastrapes doubled and Puzey singled (her fourth RBI of the game).

But Bradley touched up Nevada for seven runs in the sixth and went on to the win.

Freshman Ashley Butera homered in the seventh - her first career home run.
