DAVIS, Calif. - The University of Nevada softball team dropped two games at the Aggie Stampede Sunday, falling 4-0 to Loyola Marymount and 2-0 to UC Davis.

The losses dropped Nevada to 1-4. LMU improved to 4-1 and UC Davis improved to 1-4.

In game one, the Pack spread four hits across seven innings and forced the Lions to play solid defense throughout with only one strikeout.

Sara Parsons got the first hit of the day for the Pack in the third, doubling to left center. Caylin Campbell got her first hit of the season in the sixth, singling through the left side of the infield. In the circle, Bailey Brewer got the start for the Pack. She went five and two thirds, striking out five and giving up four earned.

The loss dropped her to 0-1 on the year.

In game two, Emily Seidel took the ball into the circle for her first career start.

She was relieved by Mallary Darby after giving up one run in the first. Darby allowed one unearned run to make the score 2-0 UC Davis after one full.

Campbell got her second hit of the afternoon with two outs in the third, but was left on base when Lauren Lastrapes grounded out to short.

Darby continued to get Aggie hitters out in the bottom half of the inning, getting some help from her defense and doing some of it on her own. Hopkins ranged into left for a shallow pop fly to get the first out, while Darby struck out Amy Nunez for the third. The Pack put runners at first and second with nobody out in the fourth, but was unable to score.

In the bottom half of the inning, Darby retired the first two hitters before Megan Guzman reached on an infield single. She got Cassandra Ginnis to ground out to second base on the next pitch.

The Pack would see an opportunity go by the way side in the top half of the sixth.

A Sam Puzey single was Nevada's fourth hit of the game, putting runners at first and second with two down and Parsons at the plate. Megan Fincher walked one batter earlier. Another walk loaded the bases and brought freshman Justine Vela into the circle to face Molly McWilliams. She struck out swinging to end the inning.

The Pack could not mount a rally in the top half of the seventh inning.

Seidel took the loss to fall to 0-1, while Jessica Thweatt improved to 1-1 with the win. Vela earned her first-career save. Darby pitched five and two thirds in relief, without giving up an earned run and struck out five.

Nevada will return to action next weekend at the Stanford Nike Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. Its first game will be against Pacific on Friday at 10 a.m.
