Day Two
LONG BEACH, Calif. The University of Nevada women's tennis team had a strong second day at the Beach Tennis Winter Invitational, winning eight matches.
Nevada dominated doubles play against Loyola Marymount, winning each of their three matches against the Lions while only dropping a total of four games. Sophie Stevens and Gabriela Eufrasio blanked Ana Lucia Fuentes and Madison Wesseln 8-0, with the teams of Juliette Legendre and Emma Verberne and Michelle Okhremchuk and Rymma Maslova each winning 8-2.
In singles play, the Wolf Pack won five of its seven matches.
Maslova earned her first collegiate singles victory with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Amber Walker of Cal State Northridge.
The Pack took on the Matadors in singles play on day two of the three-day, round-robin event. Okhremchuk won her second straight singles match to open the Spring season, defeating Nigora Sirojiddinova 6-0, 6-1 in dominating fashion. The Pack will take on host Long Beach State in doubles play and LMU in singles play on Sunday.
Nevada is competing in the invitational before taking on Utah in its first dual match of the year on February 10 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
