    RENO, Nev. - Former University of Nevada men’s basketball player Adam Carp will be seeking a spot on the Maccabi USA team when he travels to West Orange, N.J. this weekend.   Carp made the first cut at the July minicamp and the team will be narrowed to 12 after this weekend with another minicamp scheduled for Nov. 11-13.  The team will compete at the 12th Pan American Maccabi Games in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Dec. 26 - Jan. 2.

    Maccabi USA is a Jewish volunteer organization that seeks to promote Jewish pride through sports.  

    Carp played four seasons for the Wolf Pack and completed his eligibility last season.  Currently he is working on a master’s degree at Nevada and is working in the athletic departments marketing department.
    
    “It is an amazing opportunity for me to play the game I love and compete with others who share the same passion for the game as I do” said Carp.  “I am looking forward to representing my family, my hometown of Clayton along with the city of Reno and of course the University of Nevada. It is an opportunity that I am fortunate enough to have and I will make sure that I take full advantage of it.”
