Stassi Named WAC Hitter of the Week: Brock Stassi was named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week for April 18-24. Stassi, a senior from Yuba City, Calif. (Yuba City HS), hit .562 (9-for-16) with four runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and was intentionally walked twice as Nevada swept a four-game WAC series from New Mexico State. Stassi finished the week with a .688 slugging percentage and a .611 on base percentage. The senior had multiple hits in all four games starting three contests at first base and the final game on the mound before moving to designated hitter. Stassi also earned his first win of the season on the mound, pitching 5.0 innings with four strikeouts.

Stassi Becoming an On-Base Machine: Senior Brock Stassi drew six walks and posted a .667 on-base percentage vs. UNLV (3/4-3/6) and has reached base in all but three of the Pack's 39 games this season ... Stassi has the fifth highest on base percentage in the WAC at .470 and ranks seventh in hitting with a .353 average ... he's dominating conference play, leading the WAC in average at .442, fourth in slugging percentage at .558, fifth in on-base percentage .457, tied for fourth in hits with 19 and is tied for second with five doubles ... the 2010 second team All-WAC utility honoree has drawn 27 walks and been hit by four pitches this season ... his 27 walks are fifth best in the conference ... leads Nevada with 172 plate appearances.

Gardner Flourishing in Closing Role: Matt Gardner's four saves are sixth most in the WAC and he needs just two more to enter the top 10 all-time for most saves in a season at Nevada ... has had a win or save in six of Nevada's 16 wins ... he earned his first career save at UC Davis (3/8) ... his second save came against Pacific (3/12) when he gave up no runs and no hits in one inning of work ... he earned his third save of the year at Washington (3/25) when he gave up no runs, no hits and struck out two in Nevada's 2-1 victory over the Huskies ... his fourth save came vs. Utah Valley (4/1) when he pitched a hitless ninth inning to seal a 5-4 victory ... he earned his first career victory vs. Utah Valley (4/3) when he struck out the side in the top of the 10th ... his second win came against San Francisco State (4/12) ... Wolf Pack-Aces Exhibition Raises $15,000 For Dugout Club: The University of Nevada and Reno Aces Baseball Club played the Silver City Classic, an exhibition game at Aces Ballpark Tuesday Apr. 5. The game marked the second year in a row the two teams played an exhibition contest just prior to the start of the Aces season and for the second time $15,000 was raised for the Nevada Dugout Club. The Aces won this year's game 9-3 and last year's 11-1.
