RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada had 14 football players named to the Preseason All-WAC Teams by Phil Steele’s College Football Preview, the magazine announced Tuesday.
Nevada had five players on the first-team, including three on the defensive side. Wide receiver Rishard Matthews and offensive lineman Chris Barker earned first-team honors as did defensive lineman Brett Roy, linebacker James-Michael Johnson and defensive back Isaiah Frey. Barker will be a junior while the other four are all seniors. Matthews was also named the first-team punt returner.
On the second team, the Wolf Pack was represented by junior wide receiver Brandon Wimberly, senior offensive lineman Jeff Meads and junior defensive back Duke Williams.
Junior running back Mike Ball earned third-team accolades and was joined by senior defensive tackle Zack Madonick and junior defensive back Marlon Johnson.
On the fourth team, Nevada was represented with senior quarterback Tyler Lantrip, junior offensive lineman Jeff Nady and senior linebacker Brandon Marshall.
Nevada is coming off a 13-1 season in 2010 in which the Wolf Pack won the Western Athletic Conference title, beat Boston College in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl and finished No. 11 in the nation.
