RENO, Nev. - Nevada sophomore third baseman Erin Jones was named to the All-Western Athletic Conference second team Wednesday.

"She had a very good season," head coach Matt Meuchel said. "It is great for her to be honored for her play."

A pre-season transfer from Sacramento State, Jones was the Wolf Pack's only honoree.

She led the Pack with a .362 average and a .574 slugging percentage, starting and playing in 31 games at third base.  Jones finished in a tie for third on the team with five home runs, and pounded out a total of 10 extra base hits, including five doubles, despite missing two weeks of conference play.

"Even though she was hampered by injuries a couple of times, Erin had a great year for us," Meuchel said.

She drove in 21 runs and drew 11 walks in 2011, hitting mostly out of the number three spot in the Nevada lineup.

Her ability to hit for both power and average made her one of the most valuable members of the Pack offense this season.

This season, Jones tied for the lowest number of strikeouts by any regular in the Pack lineup with 11.  She homered twice against New Mexico on March 13, for her first multi-homer game as a member of the Pack, and hit her first WAC home run April 2 at home against Louisiana Tech.

She had a season-high three hits against Boston College March 4, in the Pack's first game of the Wolf Pack Classic at Hixson Park.
