Box Score 2 SEATTLE - The University of Nevada (5-14) lost the second game of a three-game series at Washington (5-15) 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at Husky Ballpark. The Wolf Pack took game one on Friday 2-1. Today's loss dropped the Pack to 5-15 while the Huskies improved to 5-15.
With the game tied at 3-3, back-to-back walks by reliever Mat Keplinger in the bottom of the ninth started the rally for UW. Jayson McClaren came out of the bullpen and got the first out on a sacrifice bunt. After an intentional walk he struck out the next hitter but a walk on a 3-2 count scored the winning run with two down as the Huskies evened the series with the victory.
Nevada scored a run in the top of the first inning on second baseman Joe Kohan's RBI ground ball. The Huskies took the lead scoring a pair in the second inning. The Pack plated two runs in the top of third inning to regain the lead 3-2. Brock Stassi and Kohan had RBI's in the inning.
UW scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game at 3-3 then scored the winning run on the walk in the ninth.
Keplinger (0-1) was tagged with the loss allowing the run in the ninth. UW reliever Tyler Kane (1-1) earned the victory recording two outs in the top of the ninth.
Waylen Sing Chow (2-for-2,2R) and Hugo Hernandez (2-for-3) had two hits each for the Pack. Sing Chow also scored two runs in the game. Kohan drove in two of the Pack's three runs. Joe Meggs (3-for-4,RBI) topped the Huskies with a game-high three hits and scored a run.
The final game of the series is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
