SERIES  HISTORY:
| Nevada’s 89-69 win over San Jose State on Saturday evened up the series with the Spartans at 47-47. The 20-point victory was also the seventh in a row in the series for the Wolf Pack and 17th victory in the last 18 meetings. Nevada has won the last two road games in the series including an 83-79 victory last season. SJSU’s last victory in the series came at home 62-60 on Jan. 10, 2008.

ABOUT THE SAN JOSE SPARTANS — Following a 20-point loss, 89-69 in the first meeting of the season to Nevada last Saturday, the San Jose Spartans are 11-11 overall and 3-7 in WAC play. SJSU came into the first meeting winners of two in a row but have lost four of the last six. George Nessman is in his fifth season leading the SJSU men’s basketball program where he has gone 62-114 overall and 25-66 in WAC play during his tenure.
Senior guard Adrian Oliver (6-4) is fourth in the country and leads the WAC in scoring at 23.8 points per game. Oliver scored a game-high 25 points in the first meeting. Another Spartan senior guard, Justin Graham (6-4) is second on the team in scoring at 16.2 per game and tops the team in assists at 4.4 per contest. Graham scored 14 last Saturday. Freshman guard Keith Shamburger (5-11) is the third SJSU player averaging double figures scoring 11.5 per game and had 16 in the first meeting. The Spartans top rebounder is 6-8, junior forward Wil Carter who grabs 7.5 per game and contributes 9.0 points per outing. Carter finished with seven points and six rebounds in the loss to the Pack on Saturday.
SJSU is averaging 74.2 points and allows 74.7 per game. From the field the Spartans shoot 40 percent and opponents 44. From behind the 3-point arc SJSU is connecting on 34 percent if its opportunities and opponents 35. The Spartans are outrebounding their opponents by nearly two per game, 38.7-36.9. SJSU won the battle of the boards in the first game 39-38.
THE FIRST MEETING - FEB. 5 - WOLF PACK 89, NEVADA 69 — RENO, Nev. (AP) - Dario Hunt had 16 points and a career-best 19 rebounds to lead Nevada past San Jose State 89-69 on Saturday night.
Malik Story had 16 points, Jerry Evans Jr. 11 and Olek Czyz 10 for the Wolf Pack (9-14 overall, 6-4 WAC).
Adrian Oliver had 25 points, Keith Shamburger 16 and Justin Graham 14 for the Spartans (11-11, 3-8 WAC).
Nevada controlled the game from the start, making 10 of its first 13 shots from the field and building a 35-17 lead with 7:36 to play in the first half.
The Wolf Pack led 40-31 at halftime. A jumper by Oliver to open the second half pulled the Spartans to within seven points, but they got no closer.
Nevada shot 51.8 percent (29 of 56) from the floor, compared to the Spartans' 39.1 percent (25 of 64).
BURTON ON POINT— Freshman point guard, Deonte Burton had his second lowest point total of the season in the Pack’s last game versus SJSU finishing with five points but led Nevada to a 20-point victory 89-69, dishing out a game-high five assists. Burton’s season low was two points on Nov. 22 at George Washington but he had seven assists in that contest. He averaged 18.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, shot 58 percent, 50 percent from 3-point range and 72 percent from the line in the previous six games.
Burton put together a stretch of five outstanding games in a row averaging 20 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.2 steals starting with the Jan. 12 game at Idaho through the Jan. 27 home contest with Fresno State. Burton shot 65 percent from the field, 58 percent from the 3-point line and 71 percent from free throw line in leading the Pack to a 4-1 record. He topped the team in scoring in the first four games and three times posted games highs. The five-game stretch started with a career-high 23 at Idaho, followed by 20 at Boise State, 22 versus New Mexico State, 18 against LA Tech and 17 versus Fresno State.
He has started all 23 games at point guard and is third on the team averaging 13.0 points per game which is 12th in the WAC. His 3.65 assists per game are fourth in the WAC and he ranks in three other categories in the conference. In WAC only action he ranks sixth in scoring at 15.2 points per game and appears in five additional categories.
Since WAC play began he has improved his 3-point shooting making 45.5 percent of his opportunities connecting on 15-of-33 attempts. The team’s top free throw shooter at 76 percent he has made 98-of-129 chances this season. On the year he is making 4.26 free throws per game. For the first time this season he did not attempt a free throw in the SJSU game.
His 15 points versus UNLV tied Malik Story for team-high honors and marked the first time he has led the team in scoring. In the game at Utah State his 11 points led the team. On the year he has a team-high 18 double figure scoring performances.
He produced his first double-double in a Nevada uniform and the first of the season for a Pack player with 10 points and 11 assists in Nevada’s 76-75 loss to Pepperdine. The 11 assists are the high by any player in the WAC this season. The last Pack double-double by a guard also came in a one-point loss when Armon Johnson totaled 13 points and 10 assists in an 80-79 setback at home to New Mexico State on Mar. 12, 2010, the first game of the WAC Tournament.
Burton scored in double figures in the first three games of his Pack career. Something that was not accomplished by six former Pack players that went on to NBA careers; Johnson, Luke Babbitt, Nick Fazekas, Ramon Sessions, JaVale McGee or Kirk Snyder. Burton scored 17 in the season opening 81-66 victory over Montana then finished with 10 versus Pacific and Pepperdine.
After scoring in double figures the first three games of the season Burton struggled failing to reach double digits the next three contests averaging 5.7 per outing. He has since reached double figures in 15 of the last 17 games which included a stretch of nine in a row until finishing with nine in the home game with Utah State. The nine game stretch of double digit scoring is the longest by a Pack player this season. In the game just prior to the last 17 he also totaled nine points.
CZYZ AMONG WAC LEADERS — After not scoring in double figures in three consecutive games, junior forward Olek Czyz totaled 10 points in the Pack’s last game, an 89-69 victory over SJSU. Despite his recent offensive struggles Czyz ranks in three categories in WAC play; eighth in scoring at 14.6 per game, third in field goal percentage making 61.2 percent of his opportunities and is third in 3-point field goal percentage at 46.7.
He had a stretch of seven consecutive double figure games snapped in the home game with LA Tech on Jan. 22. In the very next game he just missed his second double-double of the season as he grabbed nine rebounds to go along with his nine points in the Fresno State game.
He put together three consecutive 20 point games to start the conference season. On the year he has scored in double figures in nine-of-14 games played. He began WAC play scoring 23 versus Hawai`i, totaled 26 at Fresno State and 25 against Utah State. All three point totals were game highs with the 23 against UH tying teammate Dario Hunt for the honor. The 26 points at Fresno State is the high by a Pack player this season.
At Fresno State he made his first 10 field goals before missing two, 3-pointers in the last 2:14 of the game. He finished 10-of-12 from the field which included 2-of-4 three pointers and was good on 4-of-5 free throws.
He set career highs in back-to-back game with nine rebounds at home versus Utah State and 10 at Idaho which were also game highs.
At Idaho his 14 point, 10 rebound performance marked his first double-double at Nevada.
In 14 games in the Silver & Blue since becoming eligible after sitting out one year under NCAA transfer rules, the Duke transfer is averaging 12.7 points per game and shooting 56 percent from the field including 41 percent from behind the arc. The 12.7 points per game is fourth on the team and his 5.5 rebounds per contest are second.
In nine WAC games he is averaging 14.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and shooting 61 percent. From the 3-point line he is shooting 47 percent making 14-of-30 attempts and at the free throw line is connecting on 72 percent of his opportunities.
Since being inserted into the lineup the last 13 games he is averaging 12.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, is shooting 55 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.
TELL ME A STORY — Indiana transfer Malik Story has been one of the top offensive weapons for Nevada in his first season in the Silver & Blue, starting all 23 games.  Story is second on the team averaging 13.2 points per game and is grabbing 3.2 rebounds per game.
The Pack’s top long range shooter had his best game from behind the 3-point arc in the WAC opener versus Hawai`i making 6-of-11 attempts to account for all 18 of his points in the game. The six, 3-pointers is the high by a Pack player this season and equals Brandon Fields’ high from last season when he connected on 6-of-10 at San Jose State on Feb. 25, 2010.
He ranks 11th in scoring (13.2 ppg), fifth in 3-point percentage (40.6%) and fourth in 3-point shots made (2.35 mpg) in the WAC. On the year he has made 54-of-133 attempts from behind the 3-point arc. He has made a 3-point shot in every game except versus San Francisco State when he was 0-for-1 from behind the arc. In the last four games he is 4-of-14 (29%) from 3-point range.
He ranks in four categories in the WAC and in three in conference only games.
Story has produced two 20 point games this season with 21 at Houston (12/4) and 20 versus Portland State (12/20). His lowest output was three versus Pacific, the second game of the season on Nov. 15.
On the year he has scored in double figures 17 times including a career and game-high 21 at Houston.  Has scored in double figures in 15 of the last 19 games and totaled nine in three of the contests during the stretch.
He has led the team in scoring in four games; versus Boston University (14 pts), at Houston (21 pts), tied Deonte Burton for the honor in the UNLV game as both totaled 15 points, versus Arizona State (19 pts), the Portland State (20 pts) and tied Dario Hunt in the SJSU (16) game.
HUNT LEADING THE WAY — Junior forward Dario Hunt continues to lead the way in his third season at Nevada as the 6-7 forward is averaging near a double-double, scoring 13.5 points and grabbing a WAC high 9.9 rebounds per game. He leads the team in both categories.
In the Pack’s 89-69 win over SJSU he posted his ninth double-double of the season with 16 points and a career-high 19 rebounds. The 19 rebounds is the best total at Nevada since Richard Sturgis had 19 versus UTEP on Jan. 27, 2001. It is also the high in the WAC this season. His previous career best was 18 at Houston back on Dec. 6.
Hunt has doubled his scoring output from last season when he averaged 6.5 points and seven rebounds per game. In just 23 games this season his 310 points and 80 free throws made are career season highs. He is 10 rebounds from tying his season-high of 237 set last season.
In the last 12 games he has six double-doubles to his credit and just missed a sixth when he totaled nine rebounds to go along with his 23 points versus Hawai`i. In the 79-76 victory over Fresno State, he recorded his eighth double-double of the season and second versus the Bulldogs this season, finishing with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
He made 19 consecutive free throws during a three-game stretch until missing his first opportunity in the second half of the FS game. Last season he shot 47 percent from the free throw line and as a freshman 46 percent.
After not reaching double figures in back-to-back games for the first time this year finishing with four at home against Utah State (1/8) and five at Idaho (1/12) he totaled 12 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds at Boise State. In the USU game he did not grab a rebound for the first time in his career. He fouled out of four games in a row; at FS, vs. USU, at Idaho and at BSU.
His 9.9 rebounds, 3.78 offensive rebounds and 1.74 blocks per game lead the conference. In total he ranks in seven categories in the conference and in WAC play. In the latest national rankings is 27th in rebounding at 9.9 per game, 48th in field goal percentage making 53.2 percent of his shots and is 77th in blocks per game at 1.74
For the first time in his career he had back-to-back 20 plus point games, finishing with 21 at Portland (12/27) and 23 versus Hawai`i (12/31). He also scored a career-high 25 points versus San Francisco State this season. Five of his six career 20 point games has come this season.
In the San Francisco State game he scored a career-high 25 points and pulled down 12 rebounds which were both game highs as he recorded his third double-double of the season. He finished with five blocks, one off his career best against the Gators.
Hunt led the Pack in scoring the first four games of the season and reached double figures in the first five. It marked the first time in Hunt’s career that he has led the team in scoring in any contest and the first time he reached double figures in more than two consecutive games. He has topped Nevada in scoring 10 times with two of the efforts tying for the honor. Four times he posted game highs which includes the tie with Olek Czyz in the Hawai`i game as both scored 23 points. On the year he has scored in double figures 17 times.
Hunt grabbed 12 or more rebounds in three consecutive games until finishing with seven against ASU. Hunt topped the team in rebounding the first three games of the year and had a streak of leading the team in nine consecutive games snapped in the home game with Utah State. On the year he has led the team in rebounding 18 times with two of those rebounding efforts tying for the honor. On the year 15 of his rebounding totals were game highs. He has grabbed 10 or more rebounds 11 times and three times just missed reaching double figures finishing with nine.
NEVADA’S WINNERS OF FIVE OF SIX — Nevada has won five of its last six games which included a four-game win streak that was snapped at #21/22 Utah State on Feb. 2. The Wolf Pack also won on the road for the first time to start the win streak downing Boise State, 69-67 on Jan. 15. The Pack followed the BSU win with three home victories over New Mexico State (90-71), Louisiana Tech (66-58) and Fresno State (79-76). After the USU setback the Pack defeated SJSU 89-69.
In the last six games the Wolf Pack is outscoring opponents by five points per game, 73-68. From the field Nevada is shooting 47 percent and holding opponents to 39 percent. From behind the 3-point arc Nevada made 33 percent of its opportunities and opponents 27. The Pack are plus 2.7 rebounds, 36.3-33.7 having outrebounded BSU (36-29), NMSU (42-29) and FS (38-25)
Dario Hunt is averaging a double-double during the stretch scoring 15.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Hunt is shooting 64 percent from the field and 74 from the line. Deonte Burton is scoring 15.5 points and dishing out 4.2 assists in the last six games. Guard Malik Story has averaged 12 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. Junior forward Olek Czyz is averaging 9.7 points and 4.8 rebounds during the hot streak.
DOUBLE-DOUBLES — Three players have combined to produce Nevada’s 11 doubled-doubles on the season. Junior forward Dario Hunt has nine while freshman Deonte Burton and junior forward Olek Czyz have one each.
Hunt posted his ninth in the Pack last game versus San Jose State scoring 16 points and grabbing a career-high 19 rebounds. The nine double-doubles is second most in the WAC this season. Hunt has three double-doubles in the last five games and six in the last 12 contests. He posted back-to-back double-doubles with 21 points and 14 rebounds at Portland after scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds at Washington. In his career he has 10 double-doubles to his credit.
Junior forward Olek Czyz posted his first double-double at Nevada scoring 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds at Idaho.
Freshman point guard, Deonte Burton produced the Pack’s first double-double of the season. Burton’s came versus Pepperdine on Nov. 16 when he totaled 10 points and 11 assists. It was the first double-double of his career. The 11 assists is the high in the WAC this season.
PACK GRAB FIRST ROAD WIN AT BSU, STRUGGLE AWAY FROM RENO — Nevada won its first road game of the season at Boise State on Jan. 6, downing the Broncos 69-67. The Pack was 0-7 in true road contests and 0-3 in neutral site game this season heading into the BSU game. Dating back to last season Nevada had lost 11 in a row away from Reno.
Currently the Pack are 1-11 away from home, 1-8 in road contests and 0-3 at neutral sites.
YOUNG GUNS EQUAL 78% — Nevada has used six different lineups through 23 games but all have been dominated by young first-year players. Freshman point guard Deonte Burton has started all 23 games as has sophomore transfer Malik Story and junior returner Dario Hunt. Freshmen Jerry Evans, Jr. and Kevin Panzer have started 11 and 10 games respectively. Three other freshmen Jordan Burris six, Devonte Elliot three and Jordan Finn three have made starts. Junior transfer Olek Czyz has started the last 13 games after sitting out a year under NCAA transfer rules after leaving Duke and became eligible on Dec. 17.
Newcomers have scored 1250-of-1604 points on the season which equates to 78 percent of the offense. Other than Hunt’s 13.5 points per game 10 of the top 11 scorers are first year players.
HUNT CLOSING IN ON FAZEKAS — Junior forward Dario Hunt ranks second in school history with 173 blocks, 19 back of Nick Fazekas’ (2004-07) total of 192. Hunt is averaging a WAC best 1.74 blocks per game.
Five blocks in the San Francisco State game gave him 144 in his career and moved him past Edgar Jones (1975-79) into second place on the career list. The five blocks was one off his career high of six that has occurred three times with the last coming versus Hawai`i on Jan. 30, 2009.
Hunt began the year fourth on the list but has passed both Jones and Matt Williams (1987-91) this season. His 173 blocks has come in 91 games while Jones’ 142 were in 101 games and Fazekas’ 192 were accomplished in 131 contests. Based on average Hunt’s 1.9 per game is best among the three at the top of the list. Fazekas averaged 1.5 blocks per game and Jones 1.4 during their careers.
Hunt has two of the top four block seasons in school history with 67 during 2008-09 season ranking third and his 66 last year is fourth. The 67 is the freshman record at Nevada.
HUNT NINTH IN CAREER REBOUNDS — Junior forward Dario Hunt grabbed his 500th career rebound for the Wolf Pack at Washington on Dec. 22 and after his five versus LA Tech moved past Dave Weber’s (1972-74) 568 into 10th on the career list. An outstanding 19 rebound effort in the SJSU game has pushed Hunt past Greg Palm (1980-82) into ninth on the list. He is just 10 from catching Kevinn Pinkney’s (2001-05) four year total of 622 for eighth.
BREAKING DOWN THE PACK — The Nevada bench has scored 411 points, an average of 17.9 ppg this season compared to 423 for its opponents, 18.4 ppg. The Pack bench has outscored opponents in 11-of-23 games. Nevada’s bench failed to score in double figures in five consecutive games until totaling 10 at Boise State.
Unfortunately the Pack has turned the ball over 334 times which has led to 376 (16.3 ppg) opponent points while 263 turnovers for opponents has resulted in 282 (12.3 ppg) points for Nevada.
16,698 AND COUNTING — Nevada has flown 15,872 miles and drove another 826 miles for a total of 16,698 miles to play 12 games away from Reno. The Wolf Pack flew 7,782 miles to play five games between its first home contest on Nov. 13 with Montana and a second home game on Dec. 4 versus UNLV.
In breaking down the flights, the Wolf Pack flew 388 miles each way to Los Angeles for a total of 776 miles to play Pacific and Pepperdine at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion in the 2010 Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off on Nov. 15-16.
Next was a road trip east of 2,275 miles to Washington, D.C. to take on George Washington and Boston University in the consolation bracket of the Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off, Nov. 22-23. Returning to Reno was another 2,275 for a total of 4,550 miles.  The fifth game was a road trip to Brookings, S.D. to play South Dakota State on Nov. 30, which is a flight of 1,228 miles, times two to account for the return home so add 2,456 miles for the entire trip. The team traveled a combined 7,782 miles before playing its second home game at Lawlor Events Center on Dec. 4 with UNLV. A trip to Houston, Texas to play the University of Houston on Dec. 6 added another 3,080 miles.
Nevada made two trips to the Pacific Northwest to play at Washington, 1,144 miles round trip and 878 miles to play at Portland. The Pack flew 1,423 miles to play at Idaho and Boise State. The trip to Utah State was a combined flight of 764 miles and 166 on a bus to play the Aggies.
Two long road trips away the Pack with 5,130 miles to Hawai`i and 3,180 to Louisiana Tech.
The last Nevada team to start the season with so many road games was the 1963-64 team that began the season with six road games to start the year and went 1-5 away from Reno. Three of those contests were played in Alaska and one was at Montana. The 2005-06 team played four-of-five games to start the season on the road and won all four on the way to a 25-9 record.
NEVADA ONE OF TOP WAC TEAMS OVER LAST SEVEN PLUS SEASONS
Over the last seven plus seasons dating back to 2003-04, Nevada has turned in a 178-79 record, the second-most wins of any WAC team during that time (.693 winning percentage). In conference games, Nevada has won 96 games, the most in that same time period.
WINNING AT LAWLOR — Nevada has won 83 percent of its games over the past seven plus seasons posting a 109-22 record at Lawlor Events Center. The Wolf Pack has posted a 55-9 WAC mark during that same stretch, a winning percentage of 86.
9-14 SAME AS 2000-01 TEAM— Nevada’s 9-14 record through 23 games, last occurred in 2000-01 when the Wolf Pack team coached by Trent Johnson posted the same mark in its first 23 games.
The 2010-11 Nevada club snapped its seven-game losing skid defeating San Francisco State, 78-64 on Dec. 11. The Wolf Pack opened the season with an 81-66 home victory on Nov. 13 but went on to drop seven in a row, six were played away from Lawlor Events Center and the seventh was versus top 25 UNLV. The seven-game skid was the longest since the 2000-01 team dropped eight in a row.
SIX ESPN TV GAMES IN 2010-11 — University of Nevada men’s basketball games will air on ESPN’s family of networks six times this season. The Wolf Pack will make three appearances on ESPNU, two games will air on ESPN2 and one will be a regional ESPN telecast.
Home games on Dec. 17 with Arizona State, Dec. 31 versus Hawai`i and Jan. 8 with Utah State will be shown on ESPNU. Road games at Idaho on Jan. 12 and at Utah State Feb. 2 can be seen on ESPN2. The Feb. 24 Idaho at Nevada game will be a regional ESPN telecast.
WAC Sports Network To Televise Six Nevada Men’s Basketball Games — The WAC Sports Network (WSN) announced its 12-game broadcast schedule today and six will feature the University of Nevada men’s basketball team. Locally WSN games are televised on My 21 KAME-TV.
The first of three Nevada WSN games during the month of January will be the contest at Fresno State on the third. The Jan. 15 game at Boise State and Jan. 27 home game with Fresno State will also be televised in the first month of the year.
The Pack’s game at San Jose State on Feb. 12 and the home contest with Boise State on Feb. 26 will give fans an opportunity to watch two games in February. The Mar. 5 game at New Mexico State is the sixth game that will feature the Pack on the WSN.
NEVADA 0-4 IN 2010 DICK’S SPORTING GOODS NIT SEASON TIP-OFF — Nevada went 0-4 in the 2010 Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off. The Wolf Pack lost 64-53 to Pacific and 76-75 to Pepperdine in the two games played at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion, Nov. 15-16. The next week the Pack lost at George Washington 58-56 and 66-57 to Boston University in the two games played at GW’s Smith Center in Washington, D.C. Overall Nevada is 1-5 in the preseason NIT going 1-1 in the 2003 event defeating Vermont 69-49 at home then falling 93-79 at #1 Connecticut.
Nevada To Host UC Irvine In ESPN BracketBusters — The University of Nevada men’s basketball team will host UC Irvine in the ESPN BracketBusters on Feb. 19 at Lawlor Events Center.  The Wolf Pack and Anteaters will tip-off at 2:05 p.m.
Nevada lost last year’s BracketBusters game 62-60 at Missouri State. The Wolf Pack are 5-2 in BracketBusters games over the past seven seasons, 5-0 at home and 0-2 on the road.

Dario Hunt’s 19 rebounds vs. SJSU was a career-high, the high in the WAC this season and the best total at Nevada since Richard Sturgis grabbed 19 against UTEP on Jan. 27, 2001. The 19 rebounds accounted for over half of Nevada’s 27 in the game vs. SJSU.
Hunts 9.9 rebounds, 3.78 offensive rebounds and 1.74 blocks per game lead the WAC.
Freshman Jerry Evans, Jr. produced his second double figure scoring game of the season with 11 points vs. SJSU. All 11 points were scored in the first half and is one point off his career-high of 12 vs. Portland State on Dec. 20.
Sophomore Patrick Nyeko scored a career-high 7 points in the SJSU game.
Hunt needs 10 rebounds to catch Kevinn Pinkney (2001-05) for eighth in school history with 622 boards.
After scoring a season low 45 points at #21/22 Utah State the Pack scored 89 versus SJSU which is second only to the 90 scored against Hawai`i this season. The 45 point total was the lowest scoring game since the Pack scored 40 in a 58-40 loss at Hawai`i on Dec. 29, 2001.
The Pack shot a season best 56.5 percent versus the NMSU on Jan. 2.
The 86-69 win versus Hawai`i snapped a three-game losing skid in WAC openers.
Dario Hunt had back-to-back 20-point games for the first time in his career with 21 at Portland and 23 vs. Hawai`i.
Hunt (5), Burton (3), Czyz (3) and Malik Story (2) have accounted for all 13 of Nevada’s 20 point games this season.

Hunt has nine double-doubles on the season and 10 in his career. Three doubles have come in the last five games and six in the last 12.
Hunt made 19 consecutive free throws during a three-game stretch until missing his first opportunity in the second half versus Fresno State on Jan. 27.
In the latest national rankings Hunt is 27th in rebounding at 9.9 per game, 48th in field goal percentage making 53.2 percent of his shots and is 77th in blocks per game at 1.74
For the first time in his career Hunt did not have a rebound in the Pack’s home game with Utah State on Jan. 8.
Malik Story’s six, 3-pointers versus Hawai`i is the high by a Pack player this year.
Nevada has led in 20-of-23 games except; vs. UNLV, Arizona State and at Washington.
Five times the Wolf Pack has outrebounded their opponent by 10 or more. Nevada outrebounded Houston by a season high 18, 53-35. The Pack outrebounded George Washington (45-35), Boston University (47-32), NM State (42-29) and Fresno State (38-25) by 10 or more boards.
Burton’s 11 assists vs. Pepperdine is tied for the top mark in the WAC this season.
Nevada was 0-6 in games decided by five points or less until defeating Boise State 69-67 on Jan. 15. The Pack have since defeated Fresno State 79-76 to improve to 2-6 in games decided by five points or less. The Wolf Pack lost by a point 76-75 to Pepperdine (11/16), suffered a two-point setback at George Washington (11/22) 58-56, lost twice by three points at Houston (12/6) 64-61 and at home to Arizona State (12/17) 78-75, dropped a four-point game at Portland (12/27) 66-62 and lost by five at Idaho (1/12) 72-67.
Hunt’s five blocks in the San Francisco State game is tied for the top mark in the WAC this season.
Nevada’s overall record of 9-14 is at the bottom of the WAC standings but a 6-4 conference mark has the Pack in third place, one half game back of second place NM State (7-4).
Nevada is averaging 14.5 turnovers per game having turned the ball over 10 or more times in each contest. The season-high was 22 at South Dakota State but the Pack also had 20 at George Washington.
The 90-60, 30-point loss at Washington was the largest setback of the season and largest since a 106-70 defeat at North Carolina on Dec. 27, 2007. The 90 points allowed is the high this year.
Twice Nevada had five players score in double figures vs. Portland State, with Malik Story (20 pts), Deonte Burton (13 pts), Jerry Evans, Jr. (12 pts), Kevin Panzer (11 pts) and Derrell Conner (10 pts) reaching the mark. The second occurrence was vs. NMSU when Burton (22), Hunt (20), Czyz (15), Story (10) and Conner (10) reached double figures.
Six times the Wolf Pack had four players reach double figures in a game vs. ASU, vs. Pepperdine, at Portland, vs. Hawai`i, vs. NMSU and vs. SJSU. In the Portland, Boise State and SJSU games four-of-five starters reached double figures.
Only six Nevada players scored points in the game at Portland which is the low this season. Prior to the UP game at least seven players had scored in every game. A season-high 11 scored in the 81-66 victory over Montana and the 89-69 victory over SJSU. Seven times nine players scored, three times 10 players scored in a game, six times eight scored and four times seven players produced points for the Wolf Pack in a game.
Five or more newcomers have scored in every contest this season with nine new players scoring in the Pacific contest.
A total of 69 times eight different Nevada players have scored in double figures led by Burton’s 18 occurrences. Hunt and Story have scored in double figures 17 times each. Nine times Czyz, four times Conner and twice Jerry Evans, Jr. reached double figures. Kevin Panzer and Jordan Burris accomplished the task once each.
Senior Illiwa Baldwin’s is academically ineligible which ends his career at Nevada. The 6-11 center from Brisbane, Australia was in his first year after transferring from Pratt Community College (Kan.). Baldwin will continue to practice with the team.
