RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada softball team was picked to finished sixth in the Western Athletic Conference in 2011 by the coaches.
Hawai'i was predicted to win the conference after doing so in 2010 and making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Rainbow Wahine received six first place votes and 48 points. Hawai'i was followed by Fresno State, who recieved the two remaining first place votes and 43 total points, in second.
Nevada did not have any players selected to the All-WAC pre-season team and received 24 total points.
The Wolf Pack will begin its 2011 season at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., Friday, February 11 against Portland State.
Nevada finished seventh in the WAC in 2010 and returns nine letter winners and six starters from last season. Three players, Justine Cooper, Britton Murdock and Danielle Patrick, will play their senior season for the Pack in 2011.
