SAN ANTONIO - The University of Nevada swimming and diving team (3-7) held on to its sixth-place spot with 326 points after the final day of the Western Athletic Conference Championships held at the Palo Alto Natatorium on the campus of Palo Alto College in San Antonio, Texas.
Boise State defended its 2009-10 WAC title, finishing the meet with 835 points. Hawai'i finished second with 577 points. Nevada finished ahead of Fresno State (276 points) and Idaho (213 points), but behind New Mexico State who had 405 points.
The Wolf Pack swimmers and divers had a solid final day at the championship meet, recording five top-five finishes. Mengjiao Mi finished first in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:35.57. Teammate Chelsey Larsen posted a time of 17:36.78 to finish 16th in the event.
The 200-yard butterfly saw three Nevada swimmers finish in the top-20. Gabby Guieb recorded the highest finish with a time of 2:00.42. Marichi Gandionco's time of 2:06.28 earned her 12th in the event. Kimberly Medina took 18th with a time of 2:09.15.
Chavisa Thaveesupsoonthorn took 10th in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.78. Nikki Longland posted a time of 2:29.33 to finish 21st in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The Wolf Pack divers claimed three of the top-five spots on the platform with Grace Huang leading the charge. Huang's score of 219.60 earned her second in the event. Teammates Heather Ramirez (213.15) and Stephanie Hansen (209.10) finished close behind, taking third and fourth, respectively. Melyssa Charlton posted a score of 174.80 to finish 11
th.
