SAN ANTONIO - The University of Nevada swimming and diving team (3-7) trails its conference competitors after day one of the Western Athletic Conference Championships held at the Palo Alto Natatorium on the campus of Palo Alto College in San Antonio, Texas.
Boise State leads all teams after day one with 80 points, followed by New Mexico State, Hawai'i and San Jose State who are tied for second with 62 points. Nevada is sitting at eighth with 22 points.
The Wolf Pack's 200-yard medley relay team consisting of sophomores Chavisa Thaveesupsoonthorn, Ashley Kunz and Mengjiao Mi and senior Marichi Gandionco claimed the eight spot with a time of 1:45.80. In the only other race of the day, the 800-yard freestyle relay, Nevada was disqualified.
The championship meet will continue Thursday, Feb. 24 and last until Saturday, Feb. 26, with preliminaries starting at 9 a.m. followed by finals at 4:30 p.m. Fans will be able to purchase an online streaming package in order to watch finals events live. The three remaining nights of the meet can be viewed for a subscription of $5.95 per night, or a full championship package can be purchased for $9.95.
