IRVINE, CALIF. - The Wolf Pack lost again today at UC Irvine, falling 15-3 in a rain-shortened game at Anteaters Ballpark. The game was called with one out in the top of the ninth when a storm brought heavy wind and rain to the area.

The Pack never lead in this game, but it wasn't until the seventh inning that the game became out of reach. Brian Barnett's two-run home run in the top of the fifth made the score 3-2, but the Pack only scored one more run when Garrett Yrigoyen scored on Joe Kohan's single in the top of the sixth. UC Irvine added a run of their own in the bottom of the fifth inning, two more in the sixth and then broke the game open in the seventh.

Nevada entered the top of the seventh trailing only 6-3, but

UC Irvine scored eight runs on five hits, four walks and one hit batsmen in the bottom of the seventh to stretch their lead to 14-3 and they tacked on one more run in the eighth.

Nevada starting pitcher Troy Marks took the loss in his Wolf Pack debut giving up four earned runs on four hits in four innings of work. Marks was relieved by Jason McClaren after giving up a leadoff double to UC Irvine third baseman Brian Hernandez to lead off the fifth inning. Mat Keplinger and Braden Shipley also made appearances on the mound for the Pack.

Mark Joukoff will get the start tomorrow in his Nevada debut when Nevada takes on UC Irvine in the final game of the three game series at 11:30 a.m.
