Final Stats

RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada swimming and diving team earned a 158.5-141.5 victory over Fresno State at the Lombardi pool Saturday.

The win was Nevada's second in as many days and moved the Wolf Pack to 2-1 in dual meets this season. Fresno State dropped to 1-1.

A true team effort on Saturday, the Pack got exceptional performances from a few athletes in particular to propel them to a win in a meet that, for the most part, was tightly contested.

Jojo Mi continued to swim well Saturday, following up three individual wins Friday against Pacific with three more Saturday. Against Fresno State Mi won the 100, 200 and 500-yard freestyle races, the only three individual events she swam in.

Gabby Guieb also played a key role in the Nevada victory, earning three individual wins alongside Mi. Guieb won the 200-yard butterfly, the 200-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard individual medley. In her third and final individual event Guieb dominated the field, winning the 400 IM with a time of 4:34.23, more than 10 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

Strong performances on the diving board were an integral part of the victory as well, as the Pack saw two divers in particular post good scores.

Grace Huang was the only competitor to score more than 300 points in the one-meter and three-meter dives, with totals of 340.20 and 309.15, respectively. Her first place finishes in both events earned Nevada a total of 19 points.

Huang was pushed by her teammate, Melyssa Charlton, who placed second in the one-meter dive with a score of 288.75 and third in the three-meter dive with a score of 284.93. Charlton's day earned Nevada seven important points.

Nevada also earned an individual win in the 100-yard butterfly, as Andrea Kostechki swam a 59.13 to beat out Rayanne Nguyen of Fresno State by less than a second (59.75).

The Pack will take to the pool next at the Wildcat Diving Invitational, hosted by the University of Arizona from November 18-19.
