BERKELEY, Calif. - The University of Nevada women's tennis team closed out its first tournament of 2011 without a victory in seven matches Sunday at the Cal Nike Invitational.

Members of the Wolf Pack pushed their opponents to the brink in a number of matches, including newcomers Juliette Legendre and Iva Lepcevska in the first set of round robin matches.

Legendre went three sets with Sabi Leon-Chow of San Jose State, only to fall by the slightest of margins (10-8) in the third set. Lepcevska pushed Mil Hadzi-Tanovich of San Francisco to a second-set tiebreaker, falling 6-2, 7-6 (5).

Sophie Stevens fell in the semifinals of the blue singles flight to another member of the San Francisco Dons, Marina Nikolic.

Nevada was also bested in two doubles matches and two additional singles matches.

The Pack will return to action when individuals compete at the ITA Regional Championships October 12-16 in Las Vegas, Nev.
