BERKELEY, Calif. - The University of Nevada women's tennis team earned four victories Saturday at the Cal Nike Invitational.
Highlighting the day for Nevada, Sophie Stevens defeated Kimmie Cox of Santa Clara 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 to reach the semifinals of the blue singles flight.
Stevens also teamed with newcomer Juliette Legendre to reach the semifinals of the blue doubles flight. Teammates Faith Bassiouny and Gabriela Eufrasio reached the semifinals on the opposite side of the draw in the same flight with an 8-4 victory over Ali McMahon and Blair Reed of San Francisco.
Nevada's final victory of the day came from Emma Verberne, as she defeated San Jose State's Erica Medlin 6-1, 6-1 in the first flight of round robin singles play.
The event will conclude Sunday, with play scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Complete results will follow the action.
