RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada will offer a special ticket price for the doubleheader between the men's and women's basketball teams this weekend in an effort to extend the amount of donations it has generated for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
Nevada is honoring its appearance in the Kraft Foods Fight Hunger Bowl Sunday in which its tickets sales have helped to generate over 15,000 meals which have already been donated to the charity. As part of the Wolf Pack's participation in the bowl game, the University of Nevada and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada have teamed up to become "One Hunger-Free Community, One Pack" and raise money and food donations for needy families in the community.
Wolf Pack supporters can buy a five dollar ticket for Saturday's two basketball games with the donation of at least one canned food item. The doubleheader begins at Lawlor Events Center at 1 p.m. with Nevada's men facing Utah State on ESPNU followed by the women taking on Boise State at 4:30 p.m. The special ticket price is only available for purchases made on the day of the basketball games.
The men kicked off WAC play with a dominating 86-69 win over Hawai'i on Friday night while the women are on their best-ever start to a season sitting at 11-2 after dropping BYU Saturday, 57-53. The Wolf Pack football team will face Boston College in the Kraft Foods Fight Hunger Bowl on Sunday, at AT&T Park in San Francisco at 6 p.m.
