LOS ANGELES - In two close matches, the University of Nevada women's tennis team (1-1) opened its dual season by splitting matches with UC Riverside and Loyola Marymount over the weekend.

The Wolf Pack fell 4-3 to the Highlanders of UCR Friday but bounced with a hard fought win by the same score against LMU Sunday.

The difference against LMU was the doubles play from the Pack, as the teams of Lais Ogata and Emma Verberne and Aodhnait Lombard and Michelle Okhremchuk won to secure the first point of the contest.

Splitting the singles matches 3-3 allowed Nevada to earn its first win of the young dual season.

Newcomer Gabriela Eufrasio, who joined the team over the winter break after it was determined senior Florence De Vrye would miss the season for medical reasons, played in both matches.
