RENO, Nev. -- The University of Nevada swimming and diving team will hold its annual Silver and Blue Intersquad meet at Lombardi Pool Saturday at 8 a.m.
"Before the blue and silver meet we do a lot of things to try to bring the team chemistry together, and this is kind of a culmination of those things," coach Mike Richmond said. "It's serious for us, we'll have a full list of events, but we'll throw in some fun things as well. This is kind of our final tune up before the WAC Shootout."
The Wolf Pack opened its season with a loss to #5 Cal Sept. 17 at Lombardi Pool. Sophomore Mengjiao Mi led the Nevada swimmers with three individual first place finishes. Mi took first in the 500-yard (5:07.41), 200-yard (1:51.65) and 100-yard (52.14) freestyle races. The Wolf Pack divers swept the 1-meter and 3-meter events, with freshman En-Tien Huang leading the way. Huang posted scores of 306.60 on the 1-meter and 335.55 on the 3-meter to take first in both events.
Nevada will travel to Stanford, Calif. Oct. 15-16 for the PAC/WAC Shootout. In addition to Nevada, other teams attending the meet include #1 Stanford, #5 Cal and San Jose State.
