Reno, Nev. – The University of Nevada’s 104th season of college football begins Thursday evening and an action-packed evening is on tap as the much-anticipated campaign kicks off at 6:05 p.m.
Nevada will take on former Big Sky Conference foe Eastern Washington with kickoff set for 6:05 p.m. This is the first of three straight home games to begin the season for Nevada and the first of seven home games on the year.
Season tickets are available for purchase at the Legacy Hall Ticket Office until noon on Thursday. To purchase single-game tickets, fans can go to the Lawlor Events Center ticket office beginning at 10 a.m.
The Wolf Pack will also make 200 tickets available for just $10. Those tickets will go on sale at 4 p.m. at the northwest Mackay Stadium ticket booth and are available while supplies last.
Thursday marks the debut of Wolfie Jr.’s Kids Zone at Mackay Stadium. The Kids Zone is located north of the field underneath the Mackay Stadium scoreboard. It will feature bounce houses and coloring activities, sponsored by the Northern Nevada Immunization Coalition. There will also be art projects presented by Whole Foods. Parents and children can watch the game from the Kids Zone and there will also be televisions with the game broadcast available. Children can also get their picture taken with Wolfie Jr.
Tailgating begins at noon on campus with four primary designated tailgate areas. The newest area is Wolf Pack Tailgate Country South in the lot south of Lawlor Events Center. KOZZ will have a live remote from that area. Tailgating is also allowed at Wolf Pack Tailgate Country East, near Peccole Park.
In the north lots, there is Wolf Pack RV Tailgate Country (permit required), where KOH radio will have a live remote and food will be provided by Carson City BBQ. There is also Wolf Pack Tailgate Country North (near North McCarran Blvd.) where KWYL radio will be doing a live remote and food will be provided by Little Caesars’s Pizza.
Inside Mackay Stadium, Thursday will be Band Day as five area high schools will be on hand along with the university’s own Pride of the Sierra. The Wolf Pack band along with Reed, Reno, Wooster, Yerington and Spanish Springs high schools will perform at halftime.
Thursday is also Youth Day as 1,500 area youth football players and cheerleaders will lead the Wolf Pack out on to the new FieldTurf at Mackay right before kickoff.
As always, parking is free at Mackay Stadium. Fans can park on floors four, five and six of the West Stadium Park Complex and walk directly into Mackay from the fifth floor.
