Coming off its fifth-straight bowl appearance, the Nevada football team begins the 2010 season on Thursday night against FCS foe Eastern Washington at Mackay Stadium ... The Wolf Pack and Eagles will be meeting for the ninth time in history with all of the previous games coming when both were members of the Big Sky Conference ... The Wolf Pack owns a 7-1 advantage in the all-time series ... Nevada won the last meeting between the schools, 51-14 in Cheney, Wash. ... Interestingly enough, the starting quarterback for the Eagles in that 1991 game was Beau Baldwin, Eastern Washington’s third-year head coach ... Thursday marks the debut of Nevada defensive coordinator Andy Buh, a former standout linebacker at Nevada ... Nevada is unranked in both polls but did receive votes in the USA Today Coaches Top 25 ... The Wolf Pack returns 15 starters from last year’s team that went 8-5 overall and 7-1 (second place) in Western Athletic Conference play ... Included among the returners are six All-WAC players, including a pair of 1,000-yard rushers in senior quarterback Colin Kaepernick and senior running back Vai Taua, as well as the reigning WAC Defensive Player of the Year, senior defensive end Dontay Moch ... Overall, Nevada returns nine starters on offense as the Wolf Pack led the nation in rushing in 2009.
