Reno, Nev. – “The Blitz” dinner, the annual season-kickoff social function for the University of Nevada football team is scheduled for Friday and seats for the exciting event are still available.

The dinner is scheduled for Friday at the Eldorado Hotel-Casino with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Head coach Chris Ault and his coaching staff will talk about the upcoming season, which promises to be one of the most exciting in school history. Nevada will play seven home games, including games at Mackay Stadium against Cal and Boise State, and the Wolf Pack returns 15 starters from last year’s squad that finished second in the Western Athletic Conference and made it to a program-record fifth-straight bowl game.

In order to attend the dinner, fans must be members of “The Blitz,” which is the financial support group essential to the continued growth and success of the Nevada football program. Individual memberships begin at $500 per year and members can bring one guest to the dinner. All monies raised go directly to the football program to enhance and support its operating budget. Specifically, these funds are used for recruiting, summer school, travel and other operating expenses. Members of “The Blitz” will receive a unique members-only gift at the dinner on Friday night.

“’The Blitz’ is an important element to the continued growth of Wolf Pack football because the financial support it provides will enable us to move forward and help meet the financial demands of competing at the major college level,” Ault said. “The support of “The Blitz” is a critical piece of our blueprint for championship football and we are grateful to that group for their interest and support.

“We’ve worked extremely hard to restore the winning tradition of Wolf Pack football – but we’re not finished. We must continue our commitment to success both on and off the field through a great work ethic and focus. It’s an exciting time in our rich history and I’m confident that with your help our legacy will continue to manifest,” Ault said.

Nevada announced last week that it has accepted an invitation to join the Mountain West Conference in the near future.
