RENO, Nev. - After four years of being a student-athlete and member of the Nevada track and field team, Jennifer Boswell is looking forward to some down time and spending the summer traveling.
Boswell, who graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in health sciences, has trips planned to Hawaii and Florida this summer.
"This year was a long one so I feel like it's about time I get away from it all and go have a little fun," Boswell said. "I guess you could say it's a little present to myself. I also want to spend time with my older brother."
While in Hawaii, Boswell will be visiting a friend in Honolulu and plans to visit the tourist destinations, take surfing lessons and snorkel. After her vacation in Hawaii, Boswell is planning on moving to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to live with her older brother for the summer.
"I have been working in the restaurant business since I was 15 years old so I'm hoping to pick up a waitressing gig to make some pocket money," Boswell said. "I also plan to get in contact with a hospital down there and try to volunteer so I can have some exposure to that atmosphere."
Boswell is looking forward to being a surgical nurse in the future. Her top three choices for nursing school are Nevada State College, Oregon Health Sciences University of Hawaii Pacific.
Boswell, a native of Sisters, Ore., said she will miss competing in the WAC Championships the most because of the experience and the environment. This season she finished ninth in the heptathlon at the 2010 WAC Outdoor Championships.
