PALO ALTO, Calif. - Pole valuter Alicia Echevarria recorded a PR in the pole vault Saturday at the Payton Jordan Invite hosted by Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif.
Echevarria finished sixth in the pole vault with a PR jump of 3.77m (12-04.50). Echevarria passed her previous PR of 12-01.50 set earlier this outdoor season. It's the fifth-best jump in program history.
Marissa Hammond placed third in the javelin throwing 40.65m (133-04).
In the long jump, La Tijera Avery and Debbie Amoah took fifth and sixth respectively. Avery recorded a jump of 5.74m (18-10.00) while Amoah recorded a mark of 5.62m (18-05.25).
Avery also recorded a second-place finish on the day taking second in the high jump with a mark of 1.75m (5-08.75).
In the track events, Gina Deckard finished second out of 14 competitors in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.22.
Sam Diaz took third in section four of the 1500m run with a time of 4:35.38.
Nevada will compete at the Sacramento State Invite on Saturday May 8. The Pack will then compete in the 2010 WAC Outdoor Championships in Ruston, La., May 12-15.
