DENVER - Nevada's Jeremy Cole has been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, for May 3-9.
Cole, a junior from Rocklin, Calif. (Sierra JC), pitched a complete game shutout as Nevada defeated San Jose State 5-0 in the second game of a double-header sweep on Saturday. The performance marked his third consecutive complete game pitched. Cole allowed just three singles, struck out three and did not walk a batter. In five of his seven innings pitched, Cole retired the side. He faced just three batters over the minimum.
The other pitcher of the week nominations: Louisiana Tech junior Casey Jones . San Jose State freshman Zack Jones.
