Nevada Heads To Hawai'i
 The University of Nevada (22-15-1, 3-4-1 WAC) will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii to play a four-game Western Athletic Conference series with the University of Hawai'i (21-20, 4-8 WAC) at Les Murakami Stadium this weekend.  Friday's single game starts at 6:35 p.m. HT with Saturday's doubleheader getting underway at 3:05 p.m. and Sunday's single contest is slated for a 1:05 p.m. first pitch.
 The Wolf Pack sit in fourth place after eight games of WAC play with a 3-4-1 record while the Rainbows are seventh with a 4-8 mark but just 1.5 games separate the two schools.  Last season the Pack won two of the three games played  in Reno, during the regular season with game four not played because of weather problems during the series.  UH won the WAC Tournament elimination game as the two squads split the four-games during the 2009 season.
 Catcher Travis Simas' two-run homer in the bottom of the 12th gave the Pack a 14-12 victory in game 1.  Game 2 took two days to complete because of rain and UH won 13-11.  In the final game senior Derek Achelpohl tossed eight innings to get the win as the Pack won 10-5.  In an eliminationg game at the WAC Tournament played on the Rainbows home field UH defeated the Pack 5-4 in 10 innings.
 Nevada leads the all-time series 31-25 and holds a 27-18 advantage in WAC play.

Pack And Aces Play Silver City Classic Before 3631 Fans: The University of Nevada and Reno Aces Baseball Club played the Silver City Classic, an exhibition game at Aces Ballpark on April 6 before 3631 fans. The Aces are the Triple A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks.  When the game ended after eight innings the Aces had won by a score of 11-1.  The contest was played using spring training rules as Aces pitchers were used by both teams and the game lasted eight innings.  
    A fundraiser for the Nevada Dugout Club, the Aces presented a check for $15,000 to the University in the bottom of the fourth inning.  The funds will directly benefit the Wolf Pack baseball program.
    Nevada's lone run came in the sixth inning when left fielder Waylen Sing Chow tripled down the right field line with two down and freshman second baseman Cullen Mahoney followed with an RBI single.
    The Pack played 12 position players which included Sam Bias a member of the Nevada softball team.  Bias saw two innings of action defensively in left field.
    Third baseman Garrett Yrigoyen collected the first Nevada hit of the game in the third inning with an infield single.  Center fielder Westley Moss reached on a bunt single in the fourth inning as the Pack totaled four hits on the night.

Kort Ranked In WAC Top 15:  Senior first baseman Shaun Kort ranks in the top 10 in seven offensive categories in Nevada history and now has moved into the top 15 in three categories in the Western Athletic Conference career record book. 

 Kort's 66 career doubles is tied with Greg Oniate (Hawai'i,1980-83) for eighth in the WAC with Wally Joyner (BYU,1981-83) in seventh with 67.  Former teammate Matt Bowman (Nevada,2005-09) and Robert Gonzales(UNM,1997-98) tied for fifth with 68. 

 His 214 career RBI is 10th with Eric Arnold (Rice,1999-02) and Steve Susdorf (FS, 2005-08) tied for eighth with 217.  After last week he has moved into a tie for 14th with 280 career hits with Larry Harrison(UNM,1980-83) next  on the list with 282.

Kort Climbing Nevada Career Charts:  Nevada senior first baseman Shaun Kort continues to climb the Wolf Pack all-time charts in his fourth season in the program.  Kort currently ranks in the top 10 in seven categories.

TEAM: Nevada has taken advantage of the 10-run rule four times this season with three coming in WAC play, 17-2 at NMSU, 17-6 vs. FS and 14-4 vs. FS while being 10-runned once in 8 innings at NMSU 17-7...Nevada's 2.82 doubles per game ranks 6th in NCAA with its 107 doubles ranking 15th, the Pack are 24th with 17 triples and 25th in triples per game at .45...Nevada has swept two series this season with both coming vs. Seattle at home and on the road going 6-0 against the Redhawks...Nevada's 22 runs at Seattle on Apr. 17 was a season high...The Pack's 10-10 tie at NMSU on Apr. 11 was the first for Nevada since a 1-1 tie with Santa Clara during the 1993 season...The NMSU tie was the fifth for Nevada head coach Gary Powers in 28 seasons as a Division I coach for the Wolf Pack ...After two weather postponements Powers coached his 1,500th game at Nevada vs. Seattle on Apr. 2 which was a 12-10 victory...Nevada won its 400th game at Peccole Park with a 5-4 victory over Seattle on Apr. 4...Nevada's 52 stolen bases leads the WAC and is more 18 more than 34 of LA Tech and Sacramento State...Nevada won 2-of-3 games from #18 UC Irvine...Powers is in his 28th season and is the longest tenured coach in the history of Nevada athletics...Powers won his 800th game at Nevada last season when the Pack defeated Oregon 6-5 on March 12, 2009...Nevada ranks third in hitting (.315), second in pitching (5.66 ERA) and is tied for fourth in fielding (.963) in the WAC... In WAC play the Pack lead the conference in hitting at .367 ranks fifth in fielding(.964) and are sixth in pitching(8.47)...Nevada was picked to finish 6th in the preseason coaches' poll.

ON THE MOUND:  Nevada is 16-9 when the weekend's pitchers start on the mound: LHP-Chris Garcia (6-2), RHP-Tom Jameson (2-2), RHP-Jeremy Cole (4-1) and LHP-Brock Stassi (4-4)...Stassi was named Apr. 12-18, WAC Pitcher of the Week after allowing a run on 2 hits in 8 innings as the Pack won 4-1 at Seattle(4/18)...LHP-Chris Garcia tossed 5 no hit innings and RHP-Tom Jameson pitched 4 innings of one hit ball as the duo combined on a one-hit 22-0 shutout at Seattle(4/17)...Stassi leads the team with 5 wins which is tied for first in the WAC and has pitched two complete games...Stassi pitched a gem at NMSU allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and struck out 7 in the 17-2, 7-inning complete game victory...Garcia is second on the team with 4 victories...Stassi struck out a career-high 11 in a 1-0 victory at CSUB(3/13) tossing 7 shutout innings...Stassi pitched his first complete game for Nevada at Oregon(3/20, 7-inning game) but suffered the loss...Cole made his first start vs. #18 UCI and tossed 8 innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits to earn the win and received  no decisions in his next 3 starts before tossing a complete game vs. Fresno State as the Pack won 14-4 in 7 innings...Cole(3.47ERA), Stassi(3.62ERA) and Garcia(4.25) rank 3rd, 4th and 7th in the WAC in ERA...Stassi(.245), Cole(.247) and Garcia(.261) are 3rd, 4th and 6th in opponent batting average in the conference...Garcia won his second game of the season giving up 2 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings in a 5-3 victory over #18 UCI(3/26)...RHP-Beau Witsoe earned his first career save for the Pack tossing 3 innings vs. #18 UCI(3/26) allowing a run...Witsoe won his third game of the season at Seattle(4/17) tossing 4.2 innings of relief allowing an unearned run on 3 hits and struckout 4...Witsoe and Cole are 3rd on the team with 3 wins each...Graham pitched a perfect 9th at Seattle(4/18) to earn his team leading 4th save which ranks third in the WAC...Graham entered the game with bases loaded and no out vs. Seattle(4/3) and retired the side and eventually earned the victory as the Pack scored a run in the 9th to win 5-4...Graham tossed a scoreless 9th vs. #18 UCI(3/27) to earn his 3rd save...Twice Graham has recorded two inning saves this season at Santa Clara (2/19) and at UC Davis (3/1) not allowing a runner to reach base in either outing and if you add the two Seattle games has pitched 8 innings of perfect baseball in 4 outings ...Jameson and Cole have 2 saves on the season which is tied for 6th in the conference...Cole's saves have also been longer outings, 3 innings at Santa Clara(2/20) and two innings at CSUB(3/13)...Garcia earned the win at Pacific allowing one run on five hits and struck out seven which is one off his career high...Jameson earned two saves in the same week tossing 1.1 scoreless vs. SMC(4/13) and 4 scoreless at Seattle(4/17)...RHP-Jayson McClaren, Cole, Witsoe and LHP-Mat Keplinger lead the team with 12 appearances...Keplinger's loss at NMSU was his first decision in 3 seasons at Nevada ...RHP-Rickey Denham has made 4 starts this season...Three of Nevada's four pitchers that had Tommy John Surgery last season have pitched Bryan Suarez, Tyler Rogstad and Anthony Fagan while Daniel Tinlin is expected to miss all of 2010...Nine different pitchers have earned wins this year...Pack pitchers have allowed 23-of-70(33%) of inherited runners to score.
