RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada (13-11) baseball team scored the first nine runs in game one of a doubleheader from Seattle University (3-18) but had to hold on for 12-10 victory at Peccole Park on a day when wind gusts reached 45. With the victory the Wolf Pack improved to 13-11 while the Redhawks dropped to 3-18.
The team's combined for 22 runs, 22 hits and eight home runs.
Pack lefty Chris Garcia (3-1) earned the win allowing two runs on three hits in five innings on the mound. SU starter Conor Spink (0-4) suffered the loss giving up eight runs, five earned in 3.2 innings of action.
Shortstop Kevin Rodland (2-for-5,2R,5RBI) and left fielder Brian Barnett (3-for-5,2R,5RBI) each hit two home runs and drove in five in the game.
Left fielder Sean Narby (3-for-4,2R,5RBI) collected three hits and finished with five RBI for the Redhawks. First baseman Riley Tompkins (1-for-5,R,3RBI) drove in three with his third home run of the season.
