LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of Nevada track and field team had two distance runners post top-five finishes in the 800m run Saturday night in the distance carnival of the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invite hosted by UCLA.

Samantha Diaz finished third overall in the 800m with a lifetime PR of 2:12.75.  Diaz's mark is also the eighth-best time in program history.

Christy Works also recorded a lifetime PR in the 800m run and finished fourth with a time of 2:13.28 and narrowly missed cracking the career top-10.

"This was great stuff and I'm really pleased with how they are running," assistant coach Kirk Elias said.  "This meet was a good excursion for the distance crew and it will set us up for the rest of the season."

Senior Natalia Jarawka finished 11th overall in the 5000m with a time of 18:26.42.

Up next for Nevada is the Mt. SAC Relays/Heptathlon April 14-17 in Walnut and Azusa, Calif.
