STILLWATER, Okla. – The Nevada softball team fell 7-1 to No. 25 Oklahoma State on Sunday at Cowgirl Stadium.
The loss was the fourth in a row for the Wolf Pack and Nevada fell to 6-10 on the season. Nine of the 10 losses have come to ranked opponents. Oklahoma State improved to 15-5
The teams played scoreless ball into the third inning when Julie Ward got the Cowgirls on the board with a two-run home run.
Nevada answered in the top of the fourth as senior Sam Bias crushed an Anna Whiddon offering over the fence in left field for her second home run of the season.
But that would be it for the Pack, which managed just two hits off of Whiddon.
The Cowgirls came back in the bottom of the fourth with two more runs, chasing Pack starter Mallary Darby from the game. Oklahoma State took control of the game with three more in the fifth before cruising to the victory.
Nevada will return to action Wednesday with a doubleheader at Sacramento State. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. That doubleheader was postponed from last Wednesday due to weather.
The Pack will return home to Hixson Park on Saturday when it hosts Weber State for a three game set. A doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday with a single game on Sunday. Prior to Sunday’s game, the 2009 Pack team will be given their WAC Championship rings in a ceremony on the field.
