Pack to Play Aces In Exhibition Contest:  The Reno Aces Baseball Club and the University of Nevada baseball team will play an exhibition game at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6 at Aces Ballpark, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the University of Nevada Dugout Club.  Tickets for this special event are available at the Aces Ballpark Box Office or by calling (775) 334-7000. Stassi Again Earns Double Honor:  For the second time this season junior designated hitter Brock Stassi earned double honors being named the Collegebaseballinsider.com West Region Player of the Week and Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week.  Stassi earned both honors the opening weekend of the season, Feb. 15-21.

A junior from Yuba City, Calif. (Yuba City HS), he hit .875 (7-for-8) to lead Nevada to a 2-1 record against No. 18 UC Irvine. Stassi had three runs scored, a double, three triples, a home run and one RBI over the three games. His slugging percentage for the week was 2.125 and he finished with a .909 on-base percentage. In the series opener, he was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, a triple, a home run and one RBI. On Saturday, he was again perfect, going 4-for-4 with a run scored and two triples. In the finale, he pitched and hit, going 1-for-2 with a double and was intentionally walked twice. In the series he was intentionally walked three times by the Anteaters.

Kort Ranked In WAC Top 20:  Senior first baseman Shaun Kort ranks in the top 10 in six offensive categories in Nevada history and now has moved into the Western Athletic Conference career record book.  Kort's 60 career doubles is tied with Travis Young(NM,1994-97 and Damon Thames(Rice, 1998-99) for 12th in WAC history and his 197 RBI is tied with Kenny Clayton(BYU,1977-81) for 14th.  Next on the lists is Lon Yamaguchi(NM,1996-99) at 11th with 63 doubles and Dave Stegman(Arizona,1973-76) ranks 13th with 198 RBI.

TEAM:  Thursday's game vs. Seattle will be the 1500th for coach Gary Powers at Nevada...Nevada's 38 stolen bases leads the WAC and is more 17 more than Fresno State's 21...Nevada knocked off #18 UC Irvine twice last week at home which marked the start of a season-high 8-game home stand although Tuesday's game with UNLV was cancelled due to weather...Head coach Gary Powers is in his 28th season and is the longest tenured coach in the history of Nevada athletics...Powers won his 800th game at Nevada last season when the Pack defeated Oregon 2-1 on March 15, 2009...Nevada ranks fourth in hitting (.294), third in pitching (5.60 ERA) and third in fielding (.964) in the WAC...Nevada opened the season with eight in a row on the road and posted a 5-3 mark...Nevada was picked to finish 6th in the preseason coaches' poll.

AT THE PLATE:  DH/P-Brock Stassi leads the WAC in hitting(.441), on base percentage(.578) and is tied for first with 4 triples along with ranking in the top 10 in 4 additional categories... Stassi started at DH and pitcher twice the season at CSUB(3/13) and vs. UC Irvine(3/28)...Stassi's first hit of 2009 and 2010 were home runs...SS-Kevin Rodland, CF-Westley Moss and 1B-Shaun Kort have started all 23 games this season...Rodland and Moss have hit 1, 2 in the lineup in all 23 games...Moss (12-of-15) and Rodland(10-of-11) rank first and second in the WAC with 12 and 10 stolen bases respectively while Kort is tied for 4th with five...Kort and Barnett are the top 2 RBI producers for the Pack with 25 and 24 respectively...IF/OF-Nick Leid has started 18 games, 4 at second base, 3 in left field and 11 at third base...Leid hit .419(13-for-31) with 9 runs scored, 8 RBI, 5 doubles and a home run during a 8-game hit streak which is tied with Moss for the longest of the season...Moss hit .588(20-for-34) with 9 runs scored, a home run and 5 RBI during his 8-game hit streak...Rodland has been hit by pitch 8 times and Stassi 7 which rank first and second in the WAC...Moss hit his first home run at any level of baseball in game 2 at Pacific (2/26)...OF-Ronnie Mitchell was 3-for-5, with two doubles in his first collegiate start in right field in the final game of the Pacific series...Mitchell has taken over as the left hand hitting right fielder in his first season at Nevada starting 11 games at the position...Sophomore  Joe Kohan has started 12 games at second base on the season including 7 of the last 8...C-Michael Turay has started 15 games behind the plate and freshman Carlos Escobar 7...2009 1st-team All-WAC DH-Nick Melino collected his first hit of the season in game 2 vs. UCA as a pinch hitter and drove in his first run with a homer vs. Sonoma State...RF-Brett Hart was 4-for-4 with 3 RBI in his first start of the year at Santa Clara(2/20) and has made 6 starts in right field.

ON THE MOUND:  LHP-Brock Stassi leads the Pack with 3 wins which is tied for second in the WAC...Stassi struck out a career-high 11 in a 1-0 victory at CSUB(3/13) tossing 7 shutout innings...Stassi pitched his first complete game for Nevada at Oregon(3/20, 7-inning game) but suffered the loss...RHP-Jeremy Cole made his first start vs. #18 UCI and tossed 8 innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits to earn the win...Cole(2.31ERA), LHP-Chris Garcia(2.57) and Stassi(2.57ERA) rank 3rd, 4th and 5th in the WAC in ERA...Cole(.258), Garcia(.256) and Stassi(.282) are 2nd, 5th and 10th respectively in opponent batting average in the conference...Garcia won his second game of the season giving up 2 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings in a 5-3 victory over #18 UCI(3/26)...RHP-Beau Witsoe earned his first career save for the Pack tossing 3 innings vs. #18 UCI(3/26) allowing a run...Witsoe, Garcia and Cole are tied for second on the team and 9th in WAC with 2 wins each...RHP-Tyler Graham tossed a scoreless 9th vs. #18 UCI(3/27) to earn his team leading 3rd save which is tied for second in the WAC...Twice Graham has recorded two inning saves this season at Santa Clara (2/19) and at UC Davis (3/1) not allowing a runner to reach base in either outing...Cole has 2 saves on the season which is tied for 4th in the conference...Cole's saves have also been longer outings, 3 innings at Santa Clara(2/20) and two innings at CSUB(3/13)...Garcia earned the win at Pacific allowing one run on five hits and struck out seven which is one off his career high...RHP-Jayson McClaren and Cole lead the team 8 appearances...RHP-Rickey Denham has made 4 starts this season and is scheduled to make his 5th vs. Seattle ...Three of the Nevada's four pitchers that had Tommy John Surgery last season have pitched Bryan Suarez, Tyler Rogstad and Anthony Fagan while Daniel Tinlin is expected to miss all of 2010...Seven different pitchers have earned wins this year...Pack pitchers have allowed 17-of-45(38%) of inherited runners to score.
