Kort's 58 Career Doubles Ranks 14th in WAC History: Senior first baseman Shaun Kort ranks in the top 10 in six offensive categories in Nevada history and now has moved into the Western Athletic Conference career record book. Kort's 58 doubles is tied with Gary Cooper(BYU, 1983-86) for 14th in WAC history. Next on the list is Travis Young(NM, 1994-97) and Damon Thames(Rice,1998-99) with 60. One more RBI will give him 195 which will tie Randy Oyama(Hawai'i, 1984-88) and Vern Mullins(Air Force, 1991-94) for 15th all-time in the WAC. BYU's Kenny Clayton(1977-81) is 14th with 197.
Pack to Play Aces In Exhibition Contest: The Reno Aces Baseball Club and the University of Nevada baseball team will play an exhibition game at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6 at Aces Ballpark, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the University of Nevada Dugout Club. Tickets for this special event are available at the Aces Ballpark Box Office or by calling (775) 334-7000. Ticket prices will be $13 for adults and $7 for children.
TEAM: Nevada's 37 stolen bases leads the WAC and is more than twice as many Louisiana Tech who has 18...Nevada's series with UCI this weekend marks the start of a season-high 8-game homestand...Head coach Gary Powers is in his 28th season and is the longest tenured coach in the history of Nevada athletics...Powers won his 800th game at Nevada last season when the Pack defeated Oregon 2-1 on March 15, 2009...Powers is four games from coaching his 1500th at Nevada...Nevada ranks fourth in hitting (.292), fifth in pitching (5.75 ERA) and third in fielding (.961) in the WAC...Nevada opened the season with eight in a row on the road and posted a 5-3 mark...15 of the Pack's first 21 games will be played away from Reno...Nevada was picked to finish 6th in the preseason coaches poll.
AT THE PLATE: DH/P-Brock Stassi was named WAC Hitter and Collegebaseballinsider.com West Region Player of the Week for Feb. 15-21 after he hit .818 (9-for-11) with 6 runs scored, a double, 2 home runs and 5 RBI...Stassi leads the WAC in on base percentage (.532)...
