ABOUT NEVADA
Nevada enters week two of the 2010 season receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 but not in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 ... After a 2-3 start to the season at the annual Kajikawa Invitational, Nevada went 1-2 last weekend at the Stanford Nike Invitational and is 3-5 on the year ... Four of Nevada’s five losses are to ranked teams and the fifth was to Illinois, a team receiving votes in the polls ... Nevada will welcome in Southern Utah and Saint Mary’s for this weekend’s Wolf Pack Classic ... The Wolf Pack is picked to finish second in this year’s Western Athletic Conference race ... Nevada had three players on the Preseason All-WAC first team in Katie Holverson, Sam Bias and Noelle Micka ... Holverson, last year’s WAC Pitcher of the Year, is on the initial watch list for the USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year Award ... The Wolf Pack returns five position-player starters and both pitchers from last year ... This is the second season under head coach Matt Meuchel ... Last year, the Wolf Pack went 40-19 in 2009 and won the WAC Championship with a 15-5 mark ... Nevada concluded the 2009 season at the NCAA Regional in Palo Alto, Calif.

ABOUT THIS WEEK
Week three of the Nevada softball season sees the Wolf Pack play its first games of the season at home at Hixson Park ... Saint Mary’s and Southern Utah will come to town for the Wolf Pack Classic ... Heavy snowfall early in the week forced a rescheduling of the tournament ... Saint Mary’s will play Southern Utah at 10 a.m. on Sunday and Monday ... Nevada will play St. Mary’s at noon on Sunday and Southern Utah at 2 p.m. ... On Monday, Nevada will play Southern Utah at noon and St. Mary’s at 2 p.m ... Nevada is 16-4 all-time against St. Mary’s (last meeting, 2007) and 5-1 all-time against Southern Utah (last meeting, 2009).

Last year, Wolf Pack radio debuted on the radio in Northern Nevada and a select number of games will again be broadcast this year. Nevada’s games from the Stanford Nike Invitational (Feb. 20-21) and The Preview (March 5-7) as well as the Pack’s series at New Mexico State will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM (KHIT). Nevada’s game in the WAC Tournament and any postseason games will also be carried.
