RENO, Nev. – Due to heavy snowfall last weekend and expected rain or snow on Friday and Saturday, changes have been made to the Nevada softball team’s Wolf Pack Classic this weekend.
The Wolf Pack Classic – featuring Nevada, Saint Mary’s and Southern Utah – was originally scheduled for two games on Friday, three on Saturday and two more games on Sunday. However, due to field conditions from the heavy snowfall last weekend (pictures attached) and forecasts for rain on Friday and Saturday, changes have been made to the schedule. The teams will play three games on Sunday and three more on Monday.
“We’ve worked extensively to get the field ready to go and the weather forecast looks favorable from Saturday afternoon on through the early part of next week,” Nevada coach Matt Meuchel said. “At this point in the season, we just need to get some more games under our belt and I think the coaches at Saint Mary’s and Southern Utah feel the same way about their programs. I certainly want to thank them for their understanding and willingness to change their schedules.”
The coaching staff, the players and a crew from the university’s buildings and grounds department worked to remove snow from the field throughout the day on Wednesday. The picture on the front page of the website is from 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The picture above is from Wednesday afternoon.
The updated scheduled for the Wolf Pack Classic is below. Daily tickets for the Classic are just $7 with discounts available for children, students, seniors and groups. Hixson Park is located east of Peccole Park and can be accessed by turning east on Manogue Road from Valley Road. All of Nevada’s games will have an audio and video feed available at nevadawolfpack.com.
